Forward Deployed Finance Engineering Intern

Job description

Forward Deployed Finance Engineering Intern
Company: Digital Alpha Technologies
Location: 100% Remote (United States Only)
Employment Type: Internship
About the Job
Digital Alpha Platforms builds AI-powered solutions for capital markets, private equity, and now small and medium-sized businesses. We're bringing an entirely new category to life, and we need people who can bring it to life on the ground, one customer at a time.
We're looking for a Forward Deployed Finance Engineer Intern to be the person who actually makes that happen. When our sales team signs up a new small business customer, you're the one who shows up (virtually or in person), gets them set up, and trains them on how to use what we've built, all within about half a day. Think of it as a hands-on, junior version of the "forward deployed engineer" model pioneered by companies like Palantir, applied to small business finance instead of enterprise software.
No enterprise experience required. Our customers are small businesses, not Fortune 500 companies, so if you're comfortable with AI tools, curious about how finance works, and good at explaining things simply, you already have most of what you need.
What You'll Do
  • Work directly with newly signed small business customers to get them fully set up on our platform.
  • Configure things around each business's specific setup: their accounts, their workflows, their existing tools.
  • Train the business owner (and their team, if they have one) on how to actually use what we've built, day-to-day.
  • Get each customer fully up and running in about half a day. You're embedded just long enough to make it stick, then you move to the next one.
  • Troubleshoot issues that come up during setup and in the first few weeks after go-live.
  • Feed what you learn back to the team; every engagement should make the next one faster and smoother.
  • Help build reusable playbooks and checklists so onboarding keeps getting better as we take this to more customers.

What We're Looking For
Education
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science, finance, accounting, business, or a related field is a plus.
  • Comfortable learning new software quickly; no formal engineering degree needed to start.

Skills & Qualities
  • Hands-on comfort with AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT; you don't need to be a developer, but you should be genuinely curious about how AI gets used in real workflows.
  • Some interest in or exposure to how small businesses manage their day-to-day finance operations.
  • Strong communicator able to explain a new tool clearly and patiently to a business owner who isn't technical.
  • Self-driven and adaptable; every small business is a little different, and you'll need to problem-solve on the fly.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Good to Have
  • Any prior hands-on project involving AI tools, automation, or scripting.
  • Coursework or experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial operations.

What You'll Gain
  • Real, hands-on experience deploying AI in production for actual paying customers not a classroom exercise.
  • Direct mentorship from the team building Digital Alpha's AI finance products.
  • A front-row seat to how an AI-native company designs, builds, and delivers product in the real world.
  • A fast path to a full-time role if you show results; this is a performance-based track.
  • Foundational experience in a discipline that's becoming one of the most in-demand skill sets in finance and technology alike.
