About the Job

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the modernization of our core operating system build and delivery infrastructure. This role focuses on the strategic migration of mission-critical legacy product pipelines to a unified, next-generation engineering platform. You will act as a vital bridge between established build practices and modern, automated workflows, ensuring seamless release continuity for our long-term support products. As a senior leader in this space, your expertise in re-architecting complex delivery pipelines will be instrumental in enhancing engineering efficiency, security, and velocity across our Sustaining Engineering organization.

What You Will Do

  • Engage with and develop a foundational understanding of continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) principles

  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of migrating critical legacy product pipelines to our next-generation build and release platform.

  • Ensure the reliability of the build process, supporting the transition of long-term products while maintaining steady release cadences and high quality standards.

  • Help define and standardize complex, siloed build requirements into unified, maintainable, and scalable engineering workflows.

  • Promote the adoption of modern build practices, including automated testing, secure artifact generation, and pipeline-as-code principles across the Sustaining Engineering organization.

  • Partner with product, release, and infrastructure teams to resolve dependency challenges, align on build standards, and advocate for engineering best practices.

  • Provide technical guidance to the team, setting high standards for code quality, documentation, and architectural rigor during the modernization process.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines

  • Successfully modernized legacy build systems, replacing monolithic or fragmented architectures with modern, container-native infrastructure.

  • A strong understanding of operating system's build ecosystems, dependency management, and the complexities of packaging in a high-compliance environment.

  • Ability to navigate complex, interdependent build environments and solve systemic issues that span across multiple versions and architectures.

  • Excellent ability to collaborate with diverse engineering teams, clearly communicating technical trade-offs, roadmap progress, and architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience working in mission-critical engineering environments where system availability, release integrity, and secure software supply chains are paramount.

  • Experience with Python and bash programming.

  • Experience with Git

  • Experience with container based technologies (Docker, podman, Kubernetes/OpenShift)

  • Good knowledge of Linux, especially Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or Fedora

  • Good Understanding of Experience with Tekton and/or Konflux
