What is a remote developer advocate?

A Remote Developer Advocate is a professional who works primarily from a remote location to bridge the gap between software developers and a company’s products or services. They engage with developer communities, create technical content, and provide feedback to internal teams to improve products. Their main goal is to support and empower developers by offering guidance, resources, and advocacy, all while working outside of a traditional office environment. This role often involves public speaking, writing tutorials, and building community relationships online.

How does a remote developer advocate typically collaborate with engineering and product teams?

As a remote Developer Advocate, you will frequently collaborate with engineering and product teams through virtual meetings, asynchronous communication (like Slack or email), and shared documentation platforms. Your role involves acting as a bridge between external developers and internal teams, so you’ll often gather feedback from the developer community and relay it to shape product features or identify pain points. Building strong relationships across departments and proactively communicating insights are key to ensuring that developer needs are understood and prioritized, even when working remotely.

Excellent communication, community engagement, and collaboration skills are crucial for building trust and fostering relationships with developer communities. These abilities ensure you can effectively bridge the gap between engineering teams and external developers, driving product adoption and user satisfaction.

Senior Enterprise Architect – Shape the Future of Technology

Location: Atlanta, GA* (Hybrid Remote) | Position Type: Full-Time

Are you ready to take on a career-defining opportunity as the first Senior Enterprise Architect in our organization? This is a rare and exciting "first-to-the-team" role where you will not only lead an architecture team (Data Architecture, System Architecture, Application Architecture) but also build the Enterprise Architecture function from the ground up. As a key strategic leader, you’ll design and implement our technology vision, aligning it with business goals to drive innovation, scalability, and efficiency across the enterprise.

This is your chance to make a lasting impact by creating a world-class architecture function that supports a rapidly growing organization. If you’re a trailblazer who thrives in greenfield opportunities, this is the role for you!

What You’ll Do

Establish and Lead the Enterprise Architecture Function

  • Develop the organization’s first-ever Enterprise Architecture framework, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Implement and chair the Architecture Review Board (ARB) to ensure alignment across business and technology.
  • Define and communicate the technology vision and lead strategic discussions with senior executives, portfolio managers, and stakeholders.
  • Build and manage a high-performing architecture team, including System Architects and Data Architects.

Design Scalable, Future-Ready Solutions

  • Lead the creation of a robust architectural runway to support Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and Solution Trains.
  • Partner with Agile Teams, Product Managers, and Solution Architects to define and implement innovative, scalable solutions.
  • Streamline the technology portfolio by identifying opportunities to reduce complexity, redundancy, and total cost of ownership.

Drive Innovation Across the Enterprise

  • Champion emerging technologies, including Cloud, Big Data, AI, and Machine Learning, to future-proof the organization.
  • Establish and promote enterprise-wide architectural standards to ensure consistency, quality, and best practices.
  • Mentor and inspire Agile Teams to adopt Continuous Delivery Pipeline (CDP) and DevOps capabilities.

Lead Enabler Epics and Architecture Initiatives

  • Guide Enabler Epics through the Portfolio Kanban to ensure alignment with business priorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to decompose epics into actionable features and capabilities.
  • Play a key role in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) events such as PI Planning, System Demos, and design reviews.

Be a Visionary Leader

  • Act as a thought leader and advocate for Lean-Agile practices across the organization.
  • Build and foster a collaborative, innovative culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Lead a Community of Practice for architecture and mentor the next generation of technical leaders.

What You’ll Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree or certifications like TOGAF, SAFe are a plus).
  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years in enterprise architecture or technology leadership roles, with proven success in creating large-scale architectures.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of Cloud, Big Data, AI, Machine Learning, system integration, IT governance, and application design. Familiarity with platforms like Salesforce, Appian, and Enterprise systems.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change.
  • Framework Knowledge: Experience with SAFe principles and Agile practices.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Visionary Mindset: Ability to think strategically, align technology with business goals, and implement solutions that deliver maximum value.

Why This Role?

This is more than a job; it’s an opportunity to build a legacy. As the first Senior Enterprise Architect in our organization, you will have unparalleled autonomy to shape the future of technology and make a measurable impact. You’ll work alongside forward-thinking leaders in a collaborative, fast-paced environment that values innovation, leadership, and excellence.

If you’re ready to lead, build, and innovate, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now to take the next step in your career as a technology trailblazer!
