As a Mental Health Counselor, you will conduct assessments, develop tailored treatment plans, and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, contributing significantly to our clients’ mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial client evaluations and follow-up interviews, thoroughly documenting all findings from the first consultation through to treatment completion.
  • Assess and monitor clients’ mental, behavioral, and emotional health, utilizing evidence-based methodologies to inform therapeutic choices.
  • Design individualized, couples, or family-based intervention and recovery plans tailored to meet the specific needs of diverse client populations.
  • Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions that promote participation and support clients in developing coping strategies.
  • Continuously monitor client progress and adapt treatment strategies to optimize outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, physicians, and other mental health professionals to develop comprehensive intervention plans that encompass all facets of a client’s care.
  • Perform timely follow-ups with clients recently hospitalized, ensuring seamless transitions back to outpatient care.
  • Identify potential barriers to recovery such as negative behaviors or external influences and actively work to address these challenges.
  • Support family members and primary caregivers in understanding and managing the mental health challenges faced by their loved ones.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily involve a varied demographic, including individuals facing anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship issues. With a commitment to inclusivity, you will engage with clients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring culturally sensitive care that respects and honors each client’s unique experiences and perspectives.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Illinois.
  • Successful completion of the National Counselor Exam (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Demonstrable clinical experience in mental health counseling, specifically within a telehealth framework.
Preferred Experience
  • Expertise in using electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with clients managing complex interactions between physical health conditions and mental health disorders, as well as substance abuse issues.
  • Familiarity with best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • Astrong understanding of the pharmacological treatments prescribed by other healthcare providers, and their implications on mental health.
