Job description

About the Team
OpenAI's Industrial Compute organization is responsible for building and scaling the infrastructure that powers our most advanced AI systems. Through a combination of strategic partnerships and self-built campuses, we are developing data center infrastructure at unprecedented scale and speed.
The Data Center Delivery organization works across design, construction, commissioning, operations, vendors, and equipment suppliers to turn infrastructure plans into operational capacity. As projects progress from construction through commissioning and turnover, maintaining accurate equipment information, asset records, schedules, and documentation is critical to ensuring infrastructure is ready to operate and maintain.
About the Role
We are seeking a Maintenance Analyst to support the build, commissioning, and turnover of large-scale data center infrastructure.
This role sits within the build organization and serves as a key connection point between equipment vendors, construction teams, commissioning teams, and the systems used to manage physical infrastructure. The Maintenance Specialist will ensure vendor equipment information is accurately captured, validated, and assigned to the appropriate equipment records, logs, and asset tags as infrastructure is installed and commissioned.
In addition to equipment and maintenance data management, this person will provide real-time coordination and scheduling support as construction and commissioning activities progress. This role is well suited for someone who is highly organized, comfortable working with technical equipment information, and able to operate effectively in a fast-moving field environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own the collection, validation, and entry of vendor equipment information into equipment logs, asset registers, tagging systems, and infrastructure management tools.
  • Maintain accurate equipment records, including manufacturer information, model and serial numbers, location, system association, warranty information, and maintenance requirements.
  • Review vendor submittals, equipment data sheets, O&M manuals, warranties, and other technical documentation to ensure information is complete and mapped to the correct assets.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, construction teams, and commissioning teams to resolve missing, incomplete, or inconsistent equipment information and documentation.
  • Support equipment tagging and asset identification throughout installation, commissioning, and project turnover.
  • Track equipment readiness, commissioning activities, dependencies, milestones, and completion status to support real-time project scheduling and coordination.
  • Reconcile equipment records and project schedules against actual field installation and commissioning progress, identifying and escalating gaps or blockers.
  • Support turnover to operations by ensuring equipment records, maintenance requirements, warranties, and supporting documentation are complete, accurate, and ready for long-term use.

Qualifications
  • Experience supporting data centers, industrial facilities, utilities, manufacturing environments, or other projects involving complex mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Experience maintaining equipment registers, asset databases, equipment tags, maintenance records, or CMMS/EAM systems.
  • Familiarity with equipment installation, startup, commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness processes.
  • Ability to interpret equipment schedules, vendor submittals, data sheets, O&M manuals, commissioning documentation, warranties, and maintenance requirements.
  • Experience tracking project schedules, dependencies, milestones, equipment readiness, and field progress in a dynamic project environment.
  • Ability to work directly with manufacturers, vendors, contractors, commissioning agents, and field teams to obtain information and resolve discrepancies.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate, consistent, and traceable equipment information across multiple systems and workstreams.
  • Comfortable working in active construction and commissioning environments and reconciling project documentation with actual field conditions.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting maintenance, asset management, construction, commissioning, facilities operations, project controls, or technical coordination within data centers or comparable mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS, EAM, asset management, equipment tracking, or similar systems used to manage physical infrastructure.
  • Experience managing equipment data, vendor documentation, asset records, O&M manuals, warranties, or preventive maintenance information.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple equipment, documentation, and scheduling workstreams simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively with vendors, contractors, engineers, commissioning teams, construction teams, and operations personnel to drive issues to resolution.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving project environments where schedules, priorities, equipment status, and field conditions can change quickly.
  • Ability to work on-site as required to support construction, commissioning, equipment validation, asset tagging, and project turnover activities.
