Job description

Role: SAP BODS Data Lead
Location: Remote
Role Summary
The SAP BODS Data Lead will be responsible for leading end-to-end data integration, ETL, and migration initiatives using SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS). The role involves technical leadership, stakeholder management, delivery governance, and mentoring teams to build scalable, high-quality data pipelines aligned with enterprise and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead SAP BODS data integration and ETL workstreams across multiple projects.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for business and technical stakeholders.
  • Drive estimations, planning, execution, and delivery governance.
  • Manage onsite-offshore teams and ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Review designs, code, and deployments to ensure best practices.

Technical Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimise complex ETL workflows using SAP BODS.
  • Lead data extraction, transformation, and loading from SAP and non-SAP source systems.
  • Implement data migration strategies for large-scale programmes.
  • Perform performance tuning, job optimisation, and scalability improvements.
  • Handle complex mappings, transformations, and data reconciliation.
  • Work with SAP ECC / S4HANA, BW, HANA, and enterprise data warehouses.

Data Quality & Governance
  • Define and enforce data governance and validation standards.
  • Implement data profiling, data cleansing, and reconciliation frameworks.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of enterprise data.
  • Address data issues proactively and drive continuous improvement.

Stakeholder & Process Management
  • Collaborate with business, functional, and technical teams to gather and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support SOW execution, estimations, and delivery commitments.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and SDLC standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and best-practice frameworks.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills
  • Strong expertise in SAP BODS (BusinessObjects Data Services).
  • ETL design, performance tuning, error handling, and optimisation.
  • Strong SQL / PL-SQL skills for complex data transformations.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (facts, dimensions, SCDs).
  • Unix/Linux knowledge and shell scripting exposure.
  • Experience with SAP ECC/S4HANA, BW, HANA integration.

Leadership & Soft Skills
