What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Data Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Data Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, statistical knowledge, and a background in fields like mathematics, statistics, or computer science. Proficiency with data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, and visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI is typically required. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and time management help remote analysts present insights clearly and stay productive without direct supervision. These skills and qualities ensure accurate data-driven decisions and effective remote collaboration with stakeholders.

What is remote data analysis?

Remote data analysis refers to the process of examining, interpreting, and drawing insights from data using digital tools, while working from a location outside of a traditional office setting. Professionals in this field utilize statistical software, databases, and visualization tools to analyze large datasets and help organizations make informed decisions. Remote data analysts often collaborate with team members and stakeholders virtually, ensuring that data-driven strategies are implemented effectively. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings clearly.

Can you work fully remote as a data analyst?

Yes, many data analyst roles are fully remote, allowing professionals to analyze data, create reports, and use tools like Excel, SQL, and Python from anywhere. Employers often require strong communication skills and proficiency with collaboration platforms such as Slack or Teams for remote work.

Are remote data analyst jobs legit?

Remote data analyst jobs are legitimate positions that involve analyzing data to support business decisions, often requiring skills in tools like Excel, SQL, or Python. However, job seekers should verify the employer's credibility and be cautious of scams by researching the company and avoiding upfront payments.

How do remote data analysts typically collaborate with team members and stakeholders?

Remote data analysts often use a combination of communication and project management tools—such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom—to stay connected with colleagues and stakeholders. Regular virtual meetings, shared dashboards, and collaborative platforms enable them to discuss findings, gather requirements, and provide updates on ongoing projects. Clear documentation and proactive communication are essential to ensure alignment, especially when working across different time zones or departments. Building strong relationships with team members virtually can help streamline workflows and facilitate effective decision-making.

Will AI replace a data analyst?

AI tools can automate routine data processing and basic analysis tasks, but data analysts are essential for interpreting complex data, making strategic decisions, and providing context. The role of a data analyst involves skills like critical thinking, domain knowledge, and communication that are not easily replaced by AI. Therefore, while AI may augment the work of data analysts, it is unlikely to fully replace them in the near future.

Can you get a remote job as a data analyst?

Yes, remote data analyst positions are widely available and often require skills in data visualization, statistical analysis, and tools like Excel, SQL, or Python. Many companies offer remote work options, and candidates typically need a relevant degree or certification and strong communication skills.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Analyst - Supply Analytics based in Netherlands.

This is a high-impact analytics role focused on transforming complex marketplace data into insights, tools, and strategies that drive commercial decisions.
You will become the analytical backbone of the supply function, helping teams understand partner performance and identify growth opportunities.
The role combines advanced analytics, business thinking, stakeholder collaboration, and the development of scalable self-service solutions.
You will work closely with supply, product, and engineering teams to improve decision-making across a global travel marketplace.
Your work will directly influence supplier relationships, commercial negotiations, marketplace performance, and long-term business strategy.
This position offers significant ownership, the opportunity to build innovative data solutions, and the chance to shape how analytics is used across the organisation.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and define supply performance metrics, including bookings, revenue performance, commission rates, availability, pricing competitiveness, and supplier reliability.
  • Monitor and analyse changes in supply performance, proactively identifying trends, risks, and opportunities before they impact business outcomes.
  • Build self-service dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that enable commercial teams to independently answer key business questions.
  • Develop LLM-powered analytics tools and workflows by creating reliable metric definitions, validated queries, and domain-specific knowledge systems that improve stakeholder access to data.
  • Standardise how supplier performance is measured, communicated, and used in internal decision-making and external partner discussions.
  • Create business cases and commercial models to support negotiations, partnership strategies, integration prioritisation, and investment decisions.
  • Design and evaluate experiments, including A/B tests, to measure the impact of supply-side changes and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with supply managers, product teams, engineers, and analytics colleagues to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions.
  • Share knowledge, improve analytical practices, and contribute to raising the overall analytics maturity of the organisation.
  • Independently lead complex analytical projects from problem definition through implementation and communication of results.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience using data analytics to influence commercial, product, or business decisions.
  • Strong ownership mindset with experience managing metrics, reporting frameworks, or analytical domains end-to-end.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience building data models, dashboards, and analytical solutions using tools such as Looker, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Experience creating self-service tools and reports designed for non-technical stakeholders, with a strong focus on usability and business impact.
  • Ability to build business cases, evaluate opportunities, model scenarios, and communicate clear recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of experimentation methodologies, A/B testing, and basic statistical analysis.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to independently manage ambiguous, high-impact projects and deliver actionable insights.
  • Experience building LLM-based analytics tools, such as AI agents, assistants, text-to-SQL workflows, or prompt-based data solutions, or a strong motivation to develop these capabilities.
  • Experience with Python for analysis and automation is a plus.
  • Previous experience in travel, online marketplaces, supply analytics, commercial analytics, or partner management environments is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs, agent frameworks, or AI workflow tools is considered an advantage.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package with additional stock appreciation opportunities.
  • Flexible remote working options within compatible time zones.
  • Opportunity to work in a fast-growing global technology environment.
  • Significant ownership and autonomy in shaping analytics processes and business decisions.
  • Access to learning and professional growth opportunities within an open and collaborative culture.
  • International team environment with opportunities to work from modern office facilities.
  • Flexible time off policy supporting work-life balance.
  • Home office budget to support an effective remote setup.
  • Catered lunches, quality coffee, team gatherings, and company events.
  • Access to mental health support resources.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a product used by millions of travellers worldwide.
