Job description

BUILD ENGINEER (ENTERPRISE PRODUCTS) 

Starlink Transit is a rapidly deployable solution capable of delivering up to 20 Gbps of IP transit to the most remote places on Earth. See more at https://starlink.com/business/transit. As an engineer on the Starlink Enterprise team you will own the design and execution of technically challenging customer solutions in remote locations.  To succeed in this role, you must be a technically excellent first principles problem solver. You must be a self-starter and have a passion for making things work in high-impact and novel situations. We are looking for people who excel at solving complex problems, managing large projects, are ready to learn new things, and want to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment to engineer solutions and expand the scope of servable markets to all corners of the globe. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work directly with the Starlink Transit hardware and customers to improve performance, reliability, and to resolve technical issues when they arise
  • Develop new processes and methods that enable rapid deployment of antennas
  • Provide sales teams with pre-sales support, acting as the technical subject matter expert and engineering representative for Starlink Transit in customer interactions and proposal review
  • Directly support activation of new installations from hardware delivery through initial connectivity
  • Travel to remote customer sites to drive rapid installation, troubleshooting, and integration of Starlink Transit solutions
  • Design novel hardware solutions to expand how and what markets are served by Starlink Transit 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering or science discipline 
  • 1+ years of experience in an engineering role 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, or structural design and analysis
  • Experience with build, production, or integration of components into an assembly, structure, vehicle, or site under strict quality and timeline requirements
  • Demonstrated success in multidisciplinary project execution
  • Experience with any of the following is a bonus:
  • Producing construction drawings or plans
  • SQL, Matlab, Python, C++, or similar
  • Producing dashboards or analytical and statistical models (Ex: Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Physical network infrastructure design or planning
  • Design and construction of power systems 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally in support of customer site design and activations
  • Must be willing to work long hours and occasional weekends when necessary to support critical project timelines 
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Level 1: $125,000.00 - $165,000.00
Level 2: $145,000.00 - $200,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees in Washington State accrue paid sick time in compliance with state and federal law. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
