Remote Cultural Researcher information

What is a remote cultural researcher?

A Remote Cultural Researcher is a professional who studies different cultures, societies, and communities while working from a location outside of a traditional office or field site. They conduct research through virtual interviews, digital ethnography, online surveys, and analysis of digital content to understand cultural trends, behaviors, and values. This role is commonly found in academia, market research, and international organizations, allowing researchers to gather insights without needing to travel extensively. Remote Cultural Researchers often collaborate with local contacts, utilize digital tools, and produce reports or recommendations based on their findings.

How does a remote cultural researcher typically collaborate with international teams and local communities?

Remote Cultural Researchers often work closely with both international colleagues and local community members. Collaboration is usually facilitated through video calls, online surveys, and digital ethnographic tools, allowing for effective communication across time zones and cultures. Building trust with local contacts requires cultural sensitivity, clear communication, and sometimes the assistance of local liaisons. Regular virtual meetings and collaborative platforms help ensure that insights are shared efficiently and that research aligns with project goals. Adapting to diverse work styles and maintaining flexibility are key to successful collaboration in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote cultural researcher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Cultural Researcher, you need expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, cultural anthropology, and a relevant academic background such as a degree in social sciences or humanities. Familiarity with data analysis tools, online survey platforms, and virtual collaboration systems is typically required. Strong cross-cultural communication, adaptability, and critical thinking skills help you build rapport with diverse communities and interpret complex cultural data. These skills ensure accurate, insightful research outcomes and effective collaboration despite geographic distance.

Job description

At PrizePicks, we are the fastest-growing sports company in North America, as recognized by Inc. 5000. As the leading platform for Daily Fantasy Sports, we cover a diverse range of sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, and Esports titles like League of Legends and Counter-Strike. Our team of over 550 employees thrives in an inclusive culture that values individuals from diverse backgrounds, regardless of their level of sports fandom. Ready to reimagine the DFS industry together?
Description:
Senior Researcher who builds and personally runs PrizePicks' pre-launch creative, concept, messaging, and asset testing; designing mixed-method studies, conducting fieldwork, analyzing results, and delivering recommendations that improve outcomes before launch. This is not a manager or vendor-management role.
What You'll Have:
  • 5+ years in market research, consumer insights, advertising research, or a closely related discipline. Currently hands-on across the research lifecycle-writing briefs, designing studies, conducting fieldwork, analyzing findings, and making recommendations
  • Has personally designed and executed creative, advertising, concept, message, or value-proposition testing
  • Can translate a business decision into research objectives, hypotheses, success measures, and an appropriate study design
  • Has personally programmed surveys with visuals in Qualtrics or a comparable platform
  • Understands experimental or monadic designs, sampling, stimulus exposure, quality assurance, analysis, and interpretation
  • Has personally moderated interviews, focus groups, or rapid iterative studies and can diagnose why an idea works or fails
  • Demonstrated mixed-method capability across quantitative and qualitative research
  • Can show examples of research changing a creative or business decision; not merely reporting consumer reactions

Nice to Have:
  • Experience testing static advertising, paid social, television, out-of-home, storyboards, animatics, rough cuts, talent, promotions, or product experiences
  • Demonstrates exceptional ownership, persistence, and follow-through
  • Experience in sports, gaming, entertainment, consumer technology, or another culturally fast-moving category
  • Has built benchmarks, research principles, or repeatable creative-learning systems
Experience synthesizing consumer research with brand strategy, product context, and in-market performance
  • Uses AI-enabled tools responsibly for study development, qualitative coding, open-text analysis, synthesis, or workflow acceleration
Comfort operating across Product Marketing, Integrated Marketing, User Acquisition, Product Design, and Creative teams
Where you'll live:
  • While we prefer candidates based in Atlanta, we are open to qualified applicants from anywhere in the U.S. and are willing to consider remote candidates. #LI-Remote
