Job Title: Controls Engineer - Smart Building Controls
Location: Fully Remote
Full-Time
Summary:
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and support advanced smart building control solutions for large national clients. This role focuses heavily on commissioning support, remote troubleshooting, and frequent phone-based communication with field teams and customers. The ideal candidate is technically strong in building automation systems and controls, comfortable supporting projects remotely, and effective at explaining complex technical concepts over the phone. This position plays a key role in delivering ROI-driven energy efficiency and smart building projects.
Required / Mandatory Skills:
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) engineering experience
  • Strong commissioning and remote troubleshooting experience
  • Programming experience with Niagara-based systems (e.g., N4)
  • HVAC, lighting, and building controls knowledge
  • Ability to draft point lists, sequences of operations, and commissioning documentation
  • Experience integrating disparate control systems and protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
  • Strong verbal communication skills, especially phone-based technical support
  • Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting

Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in building automation systems, controls engineering, or systems integration
  • 5+ years of HVAC automation or controls engineering experience
