The Substation Practice is seeking a Project Manager.

This role supports the delivery and growth of substation and power delivery projects across DEA's Energy Business Unit. On a day-to-day basis, this person will lead project execution, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and manage client relationships across utility, renewable, and power delivery work. 

As a Substation Project Manager, you will balance hands-on project leadership with client engagement and business development responsibilities, helping expand DEA's presence while ensuring successful delivery of substation, transmission, and related infrastructure projects.

This role is hybrid- or remote-friendly, with a preference for an individual who is based near one of our offices located in Portland, OR, Corvallis, OR, Bellingham, WA, Spokane, WA, Denver, CO, or Remote

What You'll DoKey Responsibilities:
  • Lead project management and technical coordination for substation and power delivery projects 
  • Develop project scopes, execution strategies, staffing plans, and budgets 
  • Manage project delivery to meet schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction expectations 
  • Provide technical leadership and coordination for multidisciplinary teams including substation, transmission, and studies resources 
  • Accountable for project delivery outcomes including financial performance, forecasting, and contract management 
  • Support and participate in business development efforts including client engagement, opportunity identification, and proposal development 
  • Prepare scopes of work, fee estimates, and support project pursuits 
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent delivery and communication 
  • Oversee and participate in QA/QC processes to ensure high-quality deliverables 
  • Manage subcontractors and support consultants involved in project delivery 
  • Coordinate with practice and group leaders to align staffing with current workload and future commitments 
  • Mentor and support the development of engineers, designers, and project staff 
What You BringRequired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university 
  • 8+ years of experience supporting substation, transmission, or power system projects 
  • 3+ years of experience in a project management or engineering leadership role 
  • Experience leading or supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams 
  • Experience contributing to project delivery including scope, schedule, budget, and client coordination 
  • Experience working within a consulting or utility environment supporting infrastructure or power delivery projects 
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and support project execution across multiple efforts 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license  
  • Experience leading complex or large-scale infrastructure projects with multidisciplinary teams 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading business development efforts, including client relationship management and pursuit support 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification 
  • Experience with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) or design-build project delivery models 
  • Experience in utility-scale renewable energy or power delivery infrastructure projects 
  • Understanding of professional services contracting, risk management, and experience supporting contract negotiations
