Safety, Health, and Environment Specialist Position Summary: SHE Specialist – Chemical Safety & Compliance develops and maintains compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labeling for global markets, integrating regulatory expertise and analytical skills to ensure the highest standards of chemical safety and compliance. This dynamic, results-driven professional plays a key role in initiatives such as Project Fenix and Project Foxtrot, using advanced database and data analysis techniques to support cross-functional teams and continuous process improvement across the organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Author, review and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labeling in compliance with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and all relevant global regulations.
  • Conduct hazard assessments, classify substances and mixtures, and ensure accurate hazard communication for product portfolios.
  • Utilize SQL scripting to extract, transform, and analyze chemical and regulatory data from enterprise databases, supporting business analytics and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate with IT and database management teams (e.g., WERCS) to optimize data structure, implement quality controls, and resolve data-related issues.
  • Lead regulatory documentation redevelopment (e.g., SDSs, labels, PCN submissions) in support of technology integration and market reintroduction projects like Project Fenix and Project Foxtrot.
  • Facilitate the revision and submission of new product SDSs and Poison Centre Notifications (PCNs) for compliance with changing entity and branding requirements.
  • Partner with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to obtain, interpret, and validate complex chemical composition data.
  • Provide regulatory expertise and resource support for high-volume SDS, labeling, and food ingredient divestiture projects.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a technical role within a corporate or consulting environment.
  • Expertise in global Dangerous Goods regulations (DOT, IATA/ICAO, IMDG, ADR) and their application to chemical classification and transport.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS) requirements, including hazard classification.
  • Advanced working knowledge of SAP and regulatory compliance systems such as UL WERCS for SDS authoring and product notifications.
  • Skilled in SQL scripting for regulatory data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex technical and regulatory information to diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a proven track record of managing productivity and accountability in a remote work setting.
