Job description

Summary

The Course Design Support Specialist supports the Course Design team with creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content that is SCORM-compliant for our learning management system, manages the maintenance of the content, facilitates set up and maintenance of master courses and synchronization to course instances, and provides technical support to program chairs, faculty, students, and other departments on the learning platform and integrated tools.

Essential Functions

• Provision courses within the established timeline

• Facilitates setup and maintenance of master course templates and keeps active courses aligned

• Provides maintenance, revisions, and troubleshooting online courses within established timelines

• Provides administrative support with the course shells, which may include extensive copying and pasting of code or course content

• Responds to technical support inquiries from instructors, students, and other departments regarding the LMS and integrated tools with professional, timely customer service

• Troubleshot issues with LMS support and third-party providers as needed

• Communicates course development status to team and stakeholders as needed

• Trains and supports new faculty members within the learning management system

• Performs any other duties, as assigned

• Ensure curriculum documentation aligns with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements

• Assists with onboarding faculty on course design standards and instructional tools

• Participate in curriculum meetings as assigned

• Provide strong customer service to faculty

Knowledge / Skills

• Experience with video conferencing, Outlook email and calendar functions, graphic design, or web design, LMS such as Canvas, Moodle or Blackboard, and content editing software such as Camtasia preferred

• Familiarization with learning theories and instructional design models

• Experience converting instructor led training to computer-based training with an emphasis on remote learners preferred

• Comfortable learning and utilizing AI tools to support content development and workflow efficiency

• Strong attention to detail and proofreading

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Education and Work Experience

• High School diploma or GED required

• Associate’s degree in instructional technology or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred

• Two (2) years experience with a Learning Management System (LMS), and strong foundational knowledge of LMS functionality in general preferred
