Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-orientedConstruction Managerwith at least1year of experience in OSP (Outside Plant) telecommunications construction. The Construction Manager will oversee field operations, ensure construction projects meet schedule and quality expectations, maintain safety and compliance standards, and manage subcontractors and field personnel across multiple OSP projects in the Rochester, NYarea.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day field operations of OSP fiber construction projects.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and utility companies to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Review and interpret engineering plans, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure projects adhere to local, state, and federal codes and safety regulations (OSHA, NESC, etc.).
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify quality of work, accuracy of installation, and compliance with project scope.
  • Track construction progress and maintain accurate reporting in construction management software.
  • Mitigate construction risks by proactively resolving issues in the field.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules, submitting change orders as necessary.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for contractors, city inspectors, utility locators, and clients.
  • Maintain and enforce safety standards and company policies across job sites.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation of bid documentation and contractor selection.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support inventory management and material procurement logistics.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff or field personnel.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • In-depth knowledge of OSP fiber construction practices, including aerial, underground (bore/trench), and splicing techniques.
  • Familiarity with local permitting processes, right-of-way (ROW) regulations, and utility coordination.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, fiber routing, and as-built documentation.
  • Proficiency in construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Sitetracker) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Basic understanding of GIS and field data collection tools is a plus.
