Senior Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric & Power BI)
Reports To: Director of Enterprise Applications & Business Intelligence
Location: Fort Worth, TX (On-site preferred; remote considered for exceptional candidates)

We are investing in a modern enterprise data platform that will provide leadership with real-time visibility into project margins, WIP, service performance, and financial health across multiple business entities. We're seeking a Data Architect / Senior Data Engineer to design and build that foundation-someone with deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, enterprise data modeling, and scalable data engineering practices.
This role will lead the architecture and development of enterprise data pipelines, semantic models, and reporting standards that support operational and financial decision-making across the organization.
What You'll Do
You'll own the enterprise data architecture end-to-end-from source system integration through semantic modeling and Power BI delivery. You'll define standards, design scalable solutions, and serve as the technical lead for enterprise data strategy and governance.
Responsibilities

  • Design and manage enterprise data architecture using Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, pipelines, semantic models, and governance standards.
  • Build and maintain scalable ELT pipelines from systems such as IFS Cloud, ComputerEase, Vista by Viewpoint, Sage Intacct, and CRM platforms into the enterprise data layer.
  • Design enterprise-grade data models supporting:
    • WIP / Percentage of Completion accounting
    • Job costing
    • Retainage
    • AR aging
    • Field service operations
    • Subcontractor billing
    • Multi-entity financial consolidation
  • Lead Power BI architecture strategy including:
    • Semantic layer design
    • Workspace governance
    • Row-level security (RLS)
    • Dataset certification
    • Deployment pipelines
  • Partner with ERP and application teams to align source system structures with enterprise reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and executive leadership to translate business requirements into scalable and governed reporting solutions.
  • Establish data quality standards, testing frameworks, monitoring processes, and governance best practices.
  • Mentor analysts and engineers on Power BI development standards, DAX optimization, and report delivery practices.
  • Evaluate and roadmap future-state analytics capabilities including predictive analytics, Copilot integration, and self-service BI initiatives.
What Success Looks Like
  • Leadership trusts the accuracy and consistency of enterprise reporting and dashboards.
  • WIP and Percentage of Completion reporting is automated, timely, and reliable.
  • Major enterprise systems are integrated into a centralized Fabric data environment with documented lineage and refresh standards.
  • Power BI governance standards are established and consistently followed.
  • Analysts and reporting teams are able to build production-ready reports using governed semantic models.
  • A scalable multi-year data platform roadmap is established and aligned with business strategy.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or senior BI development roles.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric including:
    • Lakehouses
    • Dataflows Gen2
    • Data Factory pipelines
    • OneLake governance
    • Semantic model deployment
  • Advanced Power BI expertise including:
    • DAX
    • Composite models
    • DirectQuery/import optimization
    • Deployment pipelines
    • Workspace administration
  • Strong enterprise data modeling experience across dimensional and relational models.
  • Experience within construction, MEP, project-based services, or similar operational industries.
  • Experience with ERP and financial systems such as:
    • IFS
    • Vista
    • ComputerEase
    • Sage Intacct
    • Procore
    • Similar enterprise platforms
  • Strong SQL and Python skills for transformation, automation, and pipeline development.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT and integration platforms such as Azure Data Factory, Fabric pipelines, or Boomi.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting multi-entity financial reporting environments.
  • Predictive analytics or AI-enabled reporting initiatives.
