This role is predominantly remote, allowing for flexibility while ensuring that our counselors can effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including law enforcement, psychiatric facilities, and community organizations. • Deliver short-term crisis counseling to individuals experiencing non-violent mental health episodes, ensuring timely intervention and emotional support.
• Accompany law enforcement personnel during pertinent mental health crisis responses, providing expert guidance on de-escalation techniques.
• Participate in training sessions for police staff on mental health interventions, equipping them with the skills to effectively address and de-escalate situations involving arrestees.
• Collaborate with third-party entities, including the Department of Mental Health and local psychiatric facilities, to facilitate case management and monitor patient progress.
• Maintain detailed and confidential records of all patient interactions, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
• Communicate effectively with police, crisis stabilization units (CSUs), hospital staff, and psychiatrists to ensure comprehensive patient evaluations and care coordination.
• Assist in conducting psychiatric evaluations in the field, assessing the need for 5150/5585 applications to facilitate involuntary psychiatric detentions when necessary.

This role primarily focuses on individuals experiencing mental health crises, including community members and arrestees. Your expertise will be crucial in addressing diverse mental health needs, particularly among vulnerable populations who may lack access to traditional health services. Your empathetic approach will facilitate recovery journeys and contribute positively to community mental health.

• Current and valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) certification in California.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, counseling, or a closely related field is required.
• Previous clinical experience is strongly preferred; experience in psychiatric settings is a plus.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required, ensuring readiness for emergency scenarios.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, with a strong work ethic, integrity, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication across various stakeholders, fostering productive dialogue and collaboration.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure, displaying professionalism and a positive attitude in challenging situations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively.

• Experience in crisis intervention, including practical scenarios involving law enforcement and psychiatric evaluations.
• Familiarity with community resources and support systems available to individuals with mental health challenges.
• Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation practices relevant to mental health services.

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $122,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
