Job description

Job Title: Managing Director Location: Miami, Florida Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $145,000-$160,000 Contractor Work Model: Onsite (no remote work) Hours: 40 hours a week

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the overall strategy for affordable housing and rental assistance programs.
  • Identify new opportunities, partnerships, and ideas to expand housing options for residents.
  • Help plan and prepare for new housing programs, including staffing, resources, and operations.
  • Provide expert guidance on affordable housing, housing stability, and rental assistance programs.
  • Oversee Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8), Project-Based Voucher, and other rental assistance programs.
  • Find ways to improve voucher participation, increase landlord involvement, and enhance the resident experience.
  • Use data and reports to improve program performance, quality, and compliance.
  • Create resident-focused programs that address community needs and support long-term housing stability.
  • Build strong relationships with housing authorities, government agencies, nonprofits, developers, landlords, and community partners.
  • Represent the organization at housing meetings, industry events, and community discussions.
  • Develop partnerships that increase resources and improve housing programs.
  • Lead and support internal teams while promoting teamwork, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Help identify staffing needs and improve how housing programs operate.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and planning for new housing initiatives.
  • Ensure programs and daily operations align with the organization’s mission and goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, along with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
  • At least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the administration of public or private housing programs and/or assisted housing programs.
  • Senior-level leadership experience in affordable housing, community development, or related systems.
  • Deep understanding of voucher programs, including Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) operations, regulatory frameworks, landlord engagement, and participant support.
  • Demonstrated success navigating complex regulatory environments and funding mechanisms, including HUD programs and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) structures.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, develop new initiatives, and guide organizations through growth and change.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain program-related certifications as required.
  • Clear commitment to equity, resident voice, and community-driven solutions.
