How much do remote communication research jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 3, 2026, the average yearly pay for remote communication research in the United States is $58,746.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $44,000.00 and $70,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Communication Researcher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Communication Researcher, you need strong analytical skills, experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, and typically a degree in communications, social sciences, or a related field. Familiarity with data analysis software (such as NVivo or SPSS), survey platforms, and collaboration tools like Zoom or Slack is often required. Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and self-motivation help researchers excel when working independently and presenting findings. These skills and tools are crucial for generating actionable insights and maintaining effective collaboration in a remote research environment.

What are some common challenges in Remote Communication Research, and how can professionals overcome them?

One of the most common challenges in Remote Communication Research is maintaining seamless collaboration and data integrity when team members are distributed across different locations and time zones. Professionals often rely heavily on digital communication tools, which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or delays in feedback. Overcoming these challenges involves establishing clear protocols for virtual meetings, utilizing collaborative platforms for data sharing, and setting regular check-ins to ensure alignment. Proactively communicating and documenting research progress helps keep the entire team informed and engaged, fostering a productive and supportive remote work environment.

What is a Remote Communication Researcher?

A Remote Communication Researcher studies how people interact and share information using digital communication tools while working remotely. They analyze communication patterns, technologies, and outcomes to improve remote collaboration and productivity. This role often involves conducting surveys, interviews, and data analysis to identify challenges and develop solutions for effective virtual communication. Their findings help organizations adapt strategies for remote teams, ensuring clear and efficient information flow.

Job description

Overview Turing is hiring Physics Research Scientists (PhD, Remote) to test and improve how advanced AI models handle reasoning and problem-solving in physics. Work with top AI labs, contribute to frontier benchmarks, and earn up to $150/hr on a flexible, remote schedule. Role Overview: We are seeking PhD-level Physics researchers to rigorously test the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs).

In this role, you'll create physics problems, analyze model responses, and identify logical gaps to help improve AI's conceptual understanding and structured problem-solving. This is a remote, contract-based role with flexible weekly hour options (10, 20, or 30). Key Responsibilities Design and evaluate challenging physics problems to test AI reasoning.

Analyze AI-generated solutions for logic, rigor, and step-by-step clarity. Provide detailed, constructive feedback that highlights gaps in reasoning. Contribute to the development of benchmarks that measure model performance on abstract and multi-step tasks.

Collaborate with researchers to refine methodologies for testing AI reasoning. Must-have Qualifications PhD or Postdoctoral (or currently enrolled) in Physics, Applied Physics, or related fields. Strong ability to solve complex, multi-step problems with structured reasoning.

Skilled communicator, able to explain logic and critique clearly in writing. Independent, self-motivated, and comfortable in a remote setting. Reliable computer and internet setup.

Why Join Turing? Impact: Help define how AI models reason about abstract, scientific problems. Prestige: Work with leading AI labs shaping the future of reasoning systems.

Flexibility: Remote-first, with weekly hour options. Career Growth: Gain experience at the intersection of AI and physics research. Contract & Selection Process Compensation: $50โ€“$150 per hour, based on skills and experience.

(paid once every two weeks). Duration: 1 week to 3 months (project-based; extension possible). Hours: Up to 30 hrs/week.

Time Zone: 2โ€“5 hrs/day overlap with UTC-8 (America/Los_Angeles), confirmed near onboarding. About Turing Turing is one of the world's fastest-growing AI companies, partnering with leading AI research labs to advance frontier model capabilities in reasoning, coding, agentic behavior, multimodality, multilinguality, and STEM. Our work directly shapes how next-generation AI systems solve mission-critical challenges across science, technology, and industry.
