POSITION SUMMARY:The Renewables Controller plays a key role in supporting the financial and operational integrity of the company's Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) trading desk within a broader renewable energy project development platform. This role is responsible for leading the daily accounting operations of BCM Energy, LLC and bridges project-level accounting, corporate finance, and commodity trade support - ensuring accurate financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and margin analysis across RNG offtake, marketing, and environmental credit transactions.

This position requires a solid foundation in accounting and financial analysis, along with experience or familiarity with commodity or environmental markets. The role involves regular collaboration with trading, operations, and project finance teams and calls for a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership skills to drive cross-functional collaboration and ensure financial accuracy and optimization of accounting processes for continued growth.

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for RNG trading and marketing activities, including revenue recognition, cost of sales, and intercompany transactions tied to project entities.
  • Manage all A/R and A/P activities related to BCM Energy,
  • Reconcile daily and monthly positions, invoices, and settlements from counterparties, pipelines, and environmental registries.
  • Prepare monthly close, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations specific to RNG accounting
  • Manage cash accounts and prepare monthly bank
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements and
  • Prepare and oversee annual
  • Collaborate with corporate accounting and external auditors to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal
  • Assist in developing reporting frameworks that integrate trading results with project-level
  • Collect and provide information for annual consolidated financial audit and tax
  • Perform various ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed.

Trade Support & Risk Management

  • Partner with traders and schedulers to ensure accurate trade capture, valuation, and mark-to-market (MTM) reporting.
  • Validate P&L attribution and identify discrepancies between accounting records and trading system
  • Collaborate with risk management to track credit exposure, counterparty performance, and compliance with internal trading policies.
  • Support audit and compliance reviews related to RIN, LCFS, ISCC, or other environmental credit

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of financial processes that bridge project finance, trading operations, and corporate reporting.
  • Support integration of ERP and ETRM (Energy Trade Risk Management) systems to improve data accuracy and workflow efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reconciliations, invoicing, and reporting using Excel, Power BI, or other analytics tools.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA strongly
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance- ideally within energy trading, project development, or environmental commodities.
  • Strong familiarity with financial reporting for commodity transactions and project
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and/or ETRM platforms (e.g., Endur, Allegro, Molecule, Enverus) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and corporate accounting
  • Advanced Excel modeling and data analysis skills; Power BI or Tableau proficiency
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and communication
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and
  • Excellent organization and planning
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment balancing corporate, project, and trading
  • Interest in renewable energy markets, environmental credit systems, and sustainability
