The Staff Commissions Specialist is an advanced individual contributor responsible for leading Alkami's end-to-end commissions operations and related accounting workflows. This role applies deep expertise in sales compensation, commissions systems, contract data, and commission accounting to solve complex issues, establish scalable methods and procedures, and improve the accuracy, control, and efficiency of commission-related processes. The role partners cross-functionally with Deal Desk, Sales, Finance, Accounting, and systems stakeholders to strengthen data integrity, improve process design, and support sound commission-related financial reporting and decision-making.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end commissions process across all sales channels, ensuring accurate, timely, and scalable calculation, validation, and processing of commission payments.
  • Own the design, administration, and ongoing optimization of the commissions system and compensation plan configurations, including tools such as CaptivateIQ or similar platforms.
  • Establish and refine methods for validating commissionable deal data by partnering with Deal Desk and reviewing contract inputs before calculations are finalized.
  • Resolve complex commission discrepancies by analyzing data inputs, compensation rules, system outputs, and upstream process dependencies, and by driving durable corrective actions.
  • Lead commission-related accounting activities, including reconciliations, accrual support, capitalization and amortization treatment, and alignment with monthly close requirements.
  • Analyze month-over-month fluctuations in commission-related accounts and provide clear, decision-useful explanations and recommendations to Accounting and Finance stakeholders.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain detailed workpapers, methodologies, and calculation logic that improve transparency, auditability, and operational continuity.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance automation, controls, data integrity, and workflow efficiency across commissions operations.
  • Support internal and external audit activity by preparing documentation, explaining methodologies, and ensuring commission accounting practices are well-supported and consistently applied.
  • Serve as a trusted subject matter resource for commission calculations, plan interpretation, policy application, and accounting implications, frequently advising stakeholders on complex matters.
  • Partner across functions to improve upstream and downstream process integration between commissions administration, payroll delivery, financial reporting, CRM data quality, and sales compensation operations.
  • Manage and improve compensation plan templates, participant communication, and related administrative workflows to support accurate and efficient rollout of plan changes.
  • Help establish reliable attainment tracking and commission reporting that can serve as a trusted source for Revenue Operations and Finance stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the evolution of commission processes, controls, and operating practices by recommending new approaches that align with departmental objectives and broader business needs.

Recommended Experience & Education
  • Minimum 6-10 years of experience in commissions, sales compensation, accounting, revenue operations, or related finance roles, including experience managing complex calculations, reconciliations, system configurations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications
Required
  • Deep understanding of sales compensation structures, commission processes, and commission plan administration.
  • Advanced experience with commissions systems such as CaptivateIQ or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles related to commission expense, accruals, capitalization, amortization, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability for reconciliations, variance analysis, and complex financial workflows.
  • Ability to operate independently on complex issues, determine methods for new assignments, and improve existing processes and controls.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder partnership skills, with the ability to explain complex commission and accounting topics clearly.
  • Experience supporting audits, documenting methodologies, and maintaining strong internal control discipline.
  • Ability to connect commissions operations with broader Finance, Sales, and Revenue Operations objectives.

Preferred
  • Experience in SaaS or financial technology environments.
  • Familiarity with ASC 340-40 cost capitalization guidance.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing incentive compensation plans in CaptivateIQ or a similar ICM platform.
  • Experience improving processes or implementing automation solutions in commissions or finance operations.
  • Exposure to Salesforce data governance, CRM data compliance, or commission-related data quality controls.
  • Experience building or supporting attainment tracking and commission reporting used by Revenue Operations or Finance stakeholders.
  • Exposure to global or multi-region sales compensation administration.
  • Exposure to Deal Desk or contract management processes.
The salary range for this position is: $100,000 - $115,000
