Job description

As a specialized Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for industrial mechanical insulation projects. This estimator serves as the lead coordinator throughout the bidding process, collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure complete accurate and timely bid submissions for complex multi-scope projects.

This position is remote while supporting the Great Plains territory: IA, NE, SD, ND.  

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Support branch and regional sales efforts by preparing estimates and proposals that align with customer requirements and strategic revenue goals and profit margins
  • Engage with customers, project managers, and superintendents to discuss design changes, value engineering options, scope clarifications, and scheduling considerations
  • Lead complex estimating assignments requiring deep conceptual and practical knowledge of the discipline
  • Read and interpret complex industrial drawings, schematics, and project specifications to produce highly accurate cost estimates, takeoffs, and proposals
  • Coordinate with internal estimating teams to develop complete, accurate big packages for large, multi-scope projects
  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the estimating process, ensuring all contributors meet deadlines and required information is incorporated into the final proposal
  • Proactively follow-up with internal teams, vendors, and subcontractors to obtain pricing, scope clarifications and outstanding deliverables
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and manage responses
  • Prepare proposal documents, exclusions and pricing summaries.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of industrial mechanical insulation estimating experience; experience with industrial services such as siding and coating and/or scaffolding.
  • Firestop estimating experience is a plus
  • Experience estimating Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) projects, with a strong understanding of industrial, mechanical insulation systems is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience using CAD and/or Bluebeam software
  • Experience with MIKE or other piping take-off systems a plus
  • Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to manage complex bid packages from beginning to end.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of estimates and drive the bidding process from initiation to final submission.
  • Excellent follow-up skills and persistence in coordinating with multiple teams to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Attention to detail.
