Job description

Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group has partnered with a growing nonprofit to find a Senior Accountant. As the Sr Accountant you will be responsible for general ledger activity to ensure accurate revenue, deferred revenue, accruals, expenses, fixed assets, cash management and month-end close. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in nonprofit, grants and membership, Sage Intacct (or similar ERP experience), strong Excel Skills and is a highly organized, proactive self-starter. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, analyze trends for department heads, and assist with tax filings (IRS Form 990/DC D-20).
  • Oversee complex journal entries and reconciliations for revenue, accruals, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions while ensuring technical GAAP compliance.
  • Manage the end-to-end AR process, including billing, collections, deferred revenue tracking, and dispute resolution.
  • Prepare audit-ready documentation (PBC lists/workpapers) and lead ad hoc strategic initiatives to support evolving business needs.

Qualifications/Background Profile:
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in nonprofit (preferably within 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4)or 501(c)(6)
  • Experience with multi-entity structures and intercompany transactions.
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables and lookup functions)
  • Experience in large ERP, Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
  • CPA is preferred
