Job description

Swish is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team supporting a U.S. Government client. In this role, you will design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable, and efficient cloud-based infrastructure solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the cloud environment meets mission-critical requirements, adheres to security standards, and supports operational excellence.

The candidate MUST be able to work onsite at least 1 day per month at the customer location in either Kearneysville, WV, or Alexandria, VA.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment while leveraging cutting-edge cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Design and Implementation:
    • Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient network solutions in AWS to meet business and mission requirements.
    • Create and configure systems in the AWS environment, including EC2 instances, EKS, and other AWS services.
    • Collaborate with data teams to ensure resilient design and high-quality performance of Databricks, and other data related services in AWS tenant.
    • Develop automation scripts using Python, Terraform, Ansible, or other languages to manage AWS services and streamline operations.

o Comfortable using a CI/CD pipeline such as GitLab.

  • Operations and Maintenance:
    • Work with the team to continuously improve cloud design, operations, and cost.
    • Implement and maintain disaster recovery procedures to ensure system availability and data integrity.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot system resources in the AWS environment, ensuring modern Site Reliability Engineering best practices and client approved observability tools, such as OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Elastic, etc.
  • Collaboration and Security:
    • Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure cloud solutions align with organizational goals and security requirements.
    • Implement security best practices, including IAM policies, encryption, and network segmentation, to protect sensitive data and systems.
    • Experience with securing infrastructure and applications using U.S. Government NIST risk management framework (RMF)

Qualifications

  • ‍Education: BS/BA (CS/MIS) or STEM equivalent
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with systems administration or software development
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, preferably designing and operating scalable applications using EC2, EKS, and other services using modern cloud best practices
  • Certified AWS Solutions Architect, AWS CloudOps Engineer, AWS Certified Data Engineer, Administrator, or AWS Security
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • DoD 8570 Level II Certification (I.E. Security+ or similar)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mature independent consultant which is comfortable interfacing directly with clients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with various teams to resolve issues and mitigate risks
  • AWS Platform Architect and/or Platform Architect certifications.
