Our client seeks a Google Cloud Platform Engineer with hands-on experience across cloud administration, automation, integration, and application support. The role supports production Google Cloud Platform environments and contributes to migrations from on-premises and other clouds to Google Cloud Platform. Candidates should demonstrate practical experience designing, deploying, automating, migrating, and supporting Google Cloud Platform workloads. Experience with data engineering and analytics platforms is a plus.
This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.
Rate: $70.00 to $80.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:
  • Administer and support Google Cloud Platform organizations, folders, projects, and billing.
  • Manage IAM roles, service accounts, and access controls using least-privilege principles.
  • Configure and maintain VPC networks, firewall rules, VPNs, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Monitor platform health using Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and Alerting.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis across environments.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure using IaC with Terraform and Deployment Manager where applicable.
  • Automate operational tasks using Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Workflows, and Cloud Scheduler.
  • Develop and maintain Python and shell scripts to standardize and reduce manual effort.
  • Support cloud migrations including on-premises to Google Cloud Platform and cloud-to-cloud.
  • Assist with migration planning, execution, dependency analysis, and cutover support.
  • Integrate Google Cloud Platform services with identity platforms, CI/CD pipelines, SaaS, and internal applications.
  • Support API-based and event-driven integrations using REST and Pub/Sub.
  • Collaborate with security, networking, and application teams on hybrid and multi-cloud patterns.
  • Support applications on Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, and App Engine.
  • Assist development teams with provisioning, deployment pipelines, performance, and reliability.
  • Review cloud architectures for scalability, resilience, security, and cost.
  • As a plus, support data platforms including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, and Dataflow.

Experience Requirements:
  • 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform in production.
  • Proven experience with IAM, VPC, Compute Engine, and Cloud Storage.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation.
  • Experience supporting on-prem to cloud and cloud to cloud migrations.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or shell scripting.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
  • Preferred: GKE or containerized workloads, CI/CD pipelines, data engineering concepts, enterprise identity integrations, and cloud security best practices.
  • Google Cloud certifications are optional and considered a plus.

Education Requirements:
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
