About the role
Emerging transformational capabilities in artificial intelligence and multiomic data generation at unprecedented scale offer the opportunity to transform human health through the study of biology and the development of therapeutics and diagnostics. 10x is the leading developer of tools to measure single cell and spatial biology. With the launch of new platforms such as Atera and Flex Apex, along with nascent investments in diagnostic development, we are enabling far more and far richer biological data to be generated in the next few years than has been generated in the past 10 years in the field.
10x is exploring ambitious new offerings and business opportunities that derive from the intersection of these unprecedented datasets and AI innovations, serving both existing users of 10x's tools, as well as new consumers of biological insights, models, and datasets. We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader of this effort at 10x to define an ambitious vision for new products, services, and businesses in this area, translate that vision into an actionable program of investment and development, and lead its execution. This role is based at our headquarters in Pleasanton, CA, but we are open to remote or hybrid work arrangements.
What you will be doing
  • Identifying and evaluating opportunities for 10x to develop new offerings and businesses enabled by the intersection of 10x-generated data and the rapidly evolving landscape of AI and analysis tools
  • Translating opportunities into investable proposals that fully leverage 10x's business, channels, capabilities and roadmap, and specifying external capabilities necessary to obtain through partnerships or M&A
  • Working in a cross-disciplinary manner to develop sound executional plans, including identifying novel capabilities necessary to execute against selected proposals
  • Championing the vision and plan with senior leadership and the Board to lead to alignment and investment in the right proposals
  • Leading the execution of new opportunities

Requirements
  • Experience (including prior 0->1 experience) with ideation, evaluation, GTM, and scaling of a business that sells datasets or insights
  • Deep familiarity with data and insights needs within at least one of Pharma R&D or Dx development
  • High bias to action, iteration, and engagement to rapidly develop and test ideas
  • Strong product leadership skills, along with understanding of tools and architectures necessary to support implementation of data and insight products
  • Fluency in modern AI and agentic tools, capabilities, and trends and instinct to design offerings and solutions that anticipate the rate of capability development in the sector
  • Nuanced understanding of different biological data types and measurement tools, ideally including single cell and/or spatial genomics tools
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks that impact data and insights offerings that handle biomedical data
  • Experience building a team composed of new hires into new functions and roles, as well as coordinating with and leveraging existing in-role talent within the org
  • Experience in evaluating partnership and M&A opportunities and significant previous involvement in execution and integration inorganic assets and capabilities
  • Ability to work effectively across all functions of the organization and seniority levels
  • Excellent communicator to multiple audiences at different levels
  • Connections with leaders within the AI/ML, life sciences, pharma, or clinical sectors that would further accelerate the identification of opportunities and their implementation
