Job description

Overview The bailiff provides clerical/administrative assistance to the judge and Court. The bailiff conducts open court sessions and assists in the operation of the Court. This is not a security position.

This position requires extensive computer skills as the Court is on an E-filing system. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish is preferred. Position Responsibilities 1.

Conducts open court sessions, assists with remote hearings, and updates the information in the automated case management systems, including working in the various queues to process information in a timely manner. 2. Prepares pleadings and monitors court files for court sessions and/or the Judge's rulings.

3. Assists judicial officers and staff for court proceedings, including remote hearings. 4.

Answers court telephones and responds to questions from court representatives and the general public. 5. Assists deputies in the coordination of scheduling prisoners attending court.

6. Assists with the effective manaagement of the court calendar through confirmation of hearings with attorneys. 7.

Assists with other duties as needed. Qualifications Minimum of a high school diploma or HSE is required. Knowledge and understanding of legal terminology and civil and/or criminal court procedures a plus.

Proven computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Products and Email are required. Must be able to interact with diverse groups of individuals and have excellent organizational and time management skills. Approximately six months on-the-job training required for job proficiency.

Bi-lingual skills in Spanish is strongly preferred. Salary enhancements for bi-lingual skills and Associate's or Bachelor's degrees.
