Job Description

Responsible for investigating and confirming the facts of loss for advanced automobile accidents. Determines coverage, liability, damages and otherwise adjusts and negotiates claims within limit of authority.

National General is seeking a Auto Liability Adjuster to investigate and resolve advanced auto claims by determining coverage, liability, and damages.

In this role, you will conduct detailed claim investigations, evaluate claim exposures, negotiate settlements within authority limits, and provide exceptional customer service throughout the claims process.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling auto liability claims, coverage investigations, and complex claim scenarios, with the ability to independently manage a diverse caseload.

Preferred Experience:

  • Auto liability claims handling

  • Coverage, liability, and damage investigations

  • Negotiating claim settlements

  • Subrogation and fraud identification

  • Auto bodily injury claims experience preferred

  • Strong customer service, communication, and analytical skills

  • Experience in specialty claim areas such as Coverage, Total Loss, Investigations, or Extended Handler preferred

Key Responsibilities

Applies advanced understanding of insurance policies written by the company, the industry, and organizational relationships within the company and department

Handles investigation regarding all aspects of advanced auto claims (coverage, liability and damages) with the exercise discretion and independence within increased level of authority

For claims involving injuries (if handled), learns how to review, evaluate, and negotiate basic to moderate injury claims

Recognizes and identifies body parts of a vehicle and understanding other potential property damage

Identifies customer needs and works to meet those needs using appropriate customer service skills

Determines subrogation or fraud potential and how to handle

Applies increased experience in the Adjuster II level or a rotation into a specialty position (Coverage, Investigation Specialist, Total Loss, Initial Handler, Extended Handler, etc.)

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job does not have supervisory duties.

As a requirement of employment, individuals who currently hold an active insurance license must terminate all existing appointments prior to onboarding and must not hold any outside appointments at any point during employment. Applicants seeking an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed to by the licensing team. Base compensation offered for this role is:
Adjuster Analyst III: $50,000.00 - $65,300.00
Adjuster Cons I: $53,500.00 - $77,800.00
Adjuster Cons II: $56,000.00 - 82,500.00
Adjuster Sr. Cons I: $68,500.00 - 104,100.00
And is based on experience and qualifications. Total compensation for this role is comprised of several factors, including the base compensation outlined above, plus incentive pay (i.e. commission, bonus, etc.) if applicable for the role.
