Description
The Business Development Manager is responsible for expanding our presence in the Laboratory and Industrial markets by driving profitable growth through project specifications and the development of new national distribution channels. This role will develop deep segment expertise and design a targeted channel strategy to accelerate sales performance.
Success in this role requires strong end user engagement to understand purchasing behaviors, decision criteria, and the factors that influence how customers select technical furniture solutions. Leveraging these insights, the individual will identify opportunities, build strategic relationships, and execute growth initiatives that deliver measurable impact. An entrepreneurial mindset, strategic thinking, and a results driven approach are essential to define and execute a clear path to sustained revenue growth.
This position reports to the Senior Manager, National Accounts and is based in a major Midwest metropolitan area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Engage laboratory and industrial end users to uncover purchasing behaviors, unmet needs, and decision-making drivers.
  • Translate customer insights and competitive intelligence into a defined channel strategy, including clear alignment with A&D firms and General Contractors.
  • Activate the channel strategy by recruiting, developing, and strengthening partnerships with targeted national and regional distributors and dealers.
  • Develop and execute an annual business plan that prioritizes high-value customer targets and outlines actionable steps to achieve sales and growth objectives.
  • Lead ongoing market analysis and competitive benchmarking to identify opportunities, risks, and areas for differentiation.
  • Champion new product introductions by incorporating voice-of-customer feedback, identifying whitespace opportunities, and delivering product training to channel partners and customers.
  • Drive demand generation initiatives-including seminars, webinars, trade shows, and customer briefings-to increase brand awareness and pipeline development.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support business objectives.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive B2B sales experience
  • Extensive experience engaging end-users and national distribution partners
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing high-impact sales strategies
  • Strategic and agile thinker with the ability to manage day-to-day execution while driving long-term initiatives
  • Proven ability to leverage data analytics and market intelligence to shape strategic direction
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% as required

C O MPENSATION & BENEFITS
The starting base salary range for this position is $ 116,683 - $ 145,854 per year . The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
