Program Overview
The Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS) is a mission-critical platform supporting the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) by enabling the secure and efficient electronic filing, management, and processing of documents related to Inter Partes Disputes under the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act (AIA). P-TACTS plays a vital role in modernizing case management operations, improving transparency, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the patent appeals process.

Position Overview
RIVA Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer to join our P-TACTS program team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and executing comprehensive test strategies and automation solutions that ensure the quality, security, and performance of mission-critical software within a modern DevSecOps environment.

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience building automation frameworks from scratch, integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines, and performing security, performance, and compliance testing. This individual will work closely with developers, product owners, security teams, and other stakeholders to define test requirements, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, strategies, and cases tailored to the P-TACTS DevSecOps environment.
  • Design, build, and integrate automated test scripts into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous integration and rapid feedback.
  • Perform security testing, including static and dynamic code analysis, vulnerability scanning, and compliance validation.
  • Conduct performance, load, and stress testing to verify that applications meet scalability and reliability requirements.
  • Use monitoring and analytics tools to evaluate system performance metrics and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Set up, manage, and maintain test environments to mirror production conditions and ensure test accuracy.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to integrate testing practices seamlessly throughout the SDLC.
  • Produce detailed test reports, track and manage defects, and coordinate resolution with engineering teams.
  • Extend and enhance API testing frameworks and scripts while also participating in manual testing of user interfaces and customer-facing features.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of test processes, results, and quality metrics using tools such as Rally and GitLab.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, to ensure test coverage and workload balance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing code-based automation tools and maintaining them over time.
Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and quality assurance best practices.
Hands-on experience implementing BDD (Behavior Driven Development) using Cucumber and Gherkin.
Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer or Test Engineer in an Agile environment.
Proficiency in Java scripting and experience building automation frameworks.
Solid understanding of Java application development and testing methodologies.
Expertise with QA automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium/WebDriver for UI automation and Postman for REST API testing.
Experience with bug tracking and documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Hands-on experience testing web-based applications (both front-end UI and back-end services).
5+ years of selenium automation experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with performance and load testing tools and methodologies.
