What does an Automation Manager do?

An Automation Manager oversees the implementation and optimization of automated systems and processes within a company. They collaborate with various teams to identify areas for automation, improve efficiency, and reduce operational costs. Their role often involves selecting and integrating automation tools, managing projects, and ensuring smooth system functionality. Additionally, they may lead a team of automation specialists and provide technical guidance.

Is automation replaced by AI?

Automation Managers oversee the implementation of automated systems, which increasingly incorporate AI technologies. While AI enhances automation capabilities, it does not fully replace traditional automation; instead, it expands the scope of tasks that can be automated, requiring managers to adapt to new tools and skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Automation Manager position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Automation Manager, you need a strong background in automation technologies, process improvement methodologies, and a relevant degree in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as PLCs, SCADA systems, robotics, and certifications like Six Sigma or PMP are commonly valued. Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills set top candidates apart in this role. These technical and interpersonal skills are crucial for leading teams, optimizing automated processes, and ensuring operational excellence.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of an Automation Manager?

As an Automation Manager, your typical day involves overseeing the implementation and maintenance of automation systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements, and managing troubleshooting efforts when technical issues arise. You’ll coordinate projects, set performance goals, and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards. There’s a strong focus on leadership, as you’ll mentor automation engineers and technicians, facilitate training, and communicate project progress to stakeholders. This dynamic role often balances hands-on technical work with strategic planning and team management.

What do automation managers get paid?

Automation managers typically earn a salary ranging from $80,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience, industry, and location. They often have skills in robotics process automation (RPA), programming, and project management, which can influence compensation levels.

What 5 jobs will survive AI?

Automation Managers will continue to be essential in overseeing AI implementation, managing teams, and ensuring ethical use of technology. Jobs that require complex problem-solving, emotional intelligence, creativity, and strategic decision-making—such as healthcare professionals, educators, skilled tradespeople, managers, and data analysts—are less likely to be fully replaced by AI. These roles often involve human judgment, interpersonal skills, and adaptability that AI cannot replicate fully.

What is the role of an automation manager?

An automation manager oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems and processes within an organization. They analyze workflows, select appropriate tools such as robotic process automation (RPA) software, and collaborate with teams to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort. Strong technical skills, project management, and understanding of business operations are essential for this role.

Finance Systems & Automation Manager

Taylor Hospitality – Corporate Finance Team

Build the Financial Engine Behind a Growing Hospitality Platform

Exceptional hospitality experiences are powered by exceptional operations behind the scenes. At Taylor Hospitality, we believe the future of hospitality management lies in combining great service, operational excellence, and modern financial infrastructure.

As our portfolio of hotels, golf courses, restaurants, bars, and event venues continues to expand, we are investing in the systems and talent that will support the next phase of growth.

We are seeking a Finance Systems & Automation Manager — a builder, problem solver, and systems thinker who is excited to modernize the financial backbone of a dynamic hospitality platform. This role sits at the powerful intersection of finance, data, and technology. You will play a pivotal role in transforming manual workflows into automated, scalable financial systems capable of supporting 50+ properties and beyond.

Working closely with the VP of Finance, accounting team, HR/payroll, and property leadership, you will design and implement the infrastructure that powers faster insights, cleaner data, and smarter financial decisions across the organization. If you enjoy solving complex operational problems and building systems that create lasting impact, this role offers a rare opportunity to shape the future of finance within a growing hospitality company.

What You’ll Lead

Financial Systems Architecture

You will design and strengthen the financial data infrastructure that connects our operational systems to the accounting environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and maintaining the data architecture linking operational systems (hotel PMS, restaurant POS, golf systems, event platforms) with accounting and reporting systems.
  • Improving data flows between Prism HR, Time & Attendance systems, Benefits platforms, QuickBooks Enterprise, and M3 Accounting.
  • Developing standardized financial data structures across all properties to enable scalable reporting and automation.

Payroll Cost Automation

Payroll is one of the most complex operational workflows in hospitality. This role will modernize how payroll costs are allocated and billed.

You will:

  • Design automated workflows to allocate payroll costs by employee, department, and property.
  • Automate calculations for:
    • Benefits allocations
    • Employer payroll taxes
    • Payroll administration fees
  • Replace manual payroll allocation spreadsheets with automated financial processes.

Reconciliation Automation

You will introduce automation to high-volume financial processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.

This includes implementing automated workflows for:

  • Bank transaction reconciliation
  • POS settlement matching
  • Credit card deposit reconciliation
  • Payroll transaction matching

Your work will significantly improve transaction matching between banking systems and M3 Accounting while freeing the accounting team from manual reconciliation tasks

Financial Reporting Infrastructure

A key objective of this role is enabling real-time financial visibility across the organization.

You will:

  • Build automated data pipelines that support daily operational dashboards and real-time financial reporting.
  • Develop executive-level reporting using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI platforms.
  • Help leadership move from retrospective reporting to data-driven decision making.

Process Optimization

This role will partner closely with finance leadership to redesign core workflows.

You will:

  • Identify and eliminate manual data processes within accounting operations.
  • Support the transition from a 30-day financial close to a 3–5 day close cycle.
  • Create systems and processes that allow the finance team to focus on analysis and strategy rather than manual data work.

What You Bring

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in finance systems, financial analytics, or ERP implementation
  • Experience working in multi-entity accounting environments
  • Strong understanding of financial data structures, including general ledger, payroll, and revenue systems
  • Experience with accounting platforms such as:
    • M3
    • NetSuite
    • Sage Intacct
    • QuickBooks Enterprise
  • Experience automating financial workflows using:
    • SQL
    • Business intelligence platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
    • Data integrations, APIs, or automation tools
Preferred Experience
  • Experience within hospitality, hotel management, or multi-location operating environments
  • Familiarity with integrating operational systems such as:
    • Hotel property management systems (PMS)
    • Restaurant POS platforms
  • Payroll and HR systems
  • Experience implementing financial automation, reconciliation automation, or financial data pipeline
What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12–18 months, your work will help Taylor Hospitality:

  • Reduce payroll processing time from multiple days to automated workflows
  • Implement automated reconciliation across 50+ bank accounts
  • Build daily financial dashboards for executives and property leadership
  • Shorten the financial close cycle from 30 days to under 5 days
  • Establish financial infrastructure capable of supporting 50+ properties and continued portfolio growth
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $100,000 – $105,000
  • Performance-based bonus eligibility
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Opportunity to lead the modernization of a growing hospitality platform

About Taylor Hospitality

Our mission is simple: deliver exceptional guest experiences while building operational systems that allow our properties — and our people — to thrive.
