Remote Breathwork information

What is a remote breathwork practitioner?

A Remote Breathwork practitioner is a professional who guides individuals or groups through breathwork exercises and techniques via online platforms, rather than in person. These sessions typically involve conscious breathing practices designed to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve mental and physical well-being. The practitioner provides real-time instruction, support, and feedback through video calls or digital communication, making breathwork accessible from anywhere. Remote Breathwork can be tailored to individual needs and often incorporates mindfulness or meditation elements.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote breathwork facilitator?

To thrive as a Remote Breathwork Facilitator, you need a solid understanding of breathwork techniques, anatomy, and safety protocols, typically supported by certification from a recognized breathwork training program. Familiarity with online video platforms (such as Zoom), digital scheduling tools, and secure communication systems is essential for remote sessions. Outstanding empathy, active listening, and clear verbal communication distinguish successful facilitators in building trust and guiding clients through emotional experiences. These skills ensure safe, effective, and engaging sessions that support clients' well-being and personal growth in a virtual environment.

What are common challenges faced by remote breathwork facilitators, and how can they be overcome?

One common challenge for remote breathwork facilitators is fostering a sense of connection and safety with clients who are not physically present. To overcome this, facilitators often use clear communication, establish guidelines at the start of each session, and create a supportive virtual environment through video platforms. Technical issues, such as poor audio or video quality, can also arise, so having reliable equipment and troubleshooting plans is essential. Additionally, facilitators need to be adept at reading non-verbal cues remotely and providing reassurance or modifications as needed, ensuring clients feel supported throughout the session.

  • Are an experienced, thoughtful clinician who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and collaborating with others.
  • Can balance being warm and supportive with clear, constructive feedback.
  • Feel comfortable consulting on complex clinical situations, ethical questions, and risk concerns.
  • Value clinical excellence without perfectionism and create space for curiosity, learning, and growth.
  • Bring a relational, culturally responsive, and inclusive lens to your work.
  • Are reliable, responsive, and organized, while also comfortable working independently.
  • Enjoy being part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary community and feel aligned with The Connective's core values and whole-person approach to care.

LOCATION + HOURS
This role requires approximately 4-6 hours per month, depending on the needs of the practice. The position can be fully remote, though candidates who are local to San Francisco or Benicia and available for occasional in-person participation are especially encouraged to apply!
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate a monthly couples-specific consultation group for clinicians (approximately 1.5 hours).
  • Provide individual supervision to associate clinicians as needed and in accordance with California licensing requirements.
  • Provide couples-specific consultation to licensed clinicians as needed.
  • Provide back-up group supervision for associate clinicians as needed.
  • Offer occasional crisis and risk-management consultation when clinically indicated.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance related to clinical care, ethics, professional development, and The Connective's clinical standards.
  • Participate in supervisor consultation and collaboration with The Connective's clinical leadership and fellow supervisors as needed.
  • Incorporate cultural humility, equity, inclusion, and anti-oppressive practices into supervision and consultation.
  • Complete administrative tasks reasonably related to supervision and consultation services, including required documentation and communication.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Active California license as an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Licensed Psychologist in good standing.
  • Meets California requirements to provide clinical supervision to associate clinicians.
  • Advanced training and experience in couples therapy.
  • Clinical supervision or consultation experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, including experience with complex cases, ethics, and risk assessment.
  • Collaborative, approachable, and committed to ethical, inclusive, culturally responsive care.
  • Alignment with The Connective's relational, whole-person approach to wellness.

As part of the interview process, finalists will have the opportunity to facilitate a brief couples consultation session with members of The Connective team, giving us a chance to experience your consultation style and approach firsthand.
