ABOUT THE GIG
Location: Remote
Department: Race Operations
Type: Part-time
As the Kids Support (KS) at Spartan Race, you will report directly to the Kids Lead (KL). Your responsibilities will be in direct support of the KL in all matters pertaining to course set up, building obstacles, marking course, race day operations, tear-down, packing all kids course material, and clean up.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Marking the Kids course
  • Lifting heavy obstacle parts, fencing, tents, and equipment
  • Driving tent stakes, grade stakes, rebar into the ground with a sledgehammer or mallet
  • Setting up barrier jackets and blade flags (branding)
  • Building the Kids course start and finish line areas
  • Assist with Kids course race day operations
  • Breaking down Kid course obstacles, tents, fencing, flags, and barrier jackets
  • Packing obstacles into a bundle for transport
  • Remove all course tape and course marking stakes
  • Remove and discard all trash.
  • Neatly packing all remaining Kids course equipment into Kids crates
  • As support, you will assist and report to the Kids Lead and Festival Manager and perform all duties and tasks assigned.
  • Attend required meetings and give prior notice to any reason you may not be attending
  • Commit to a schedule and adhere to arranged travel plans
  • Book travel in a timely manner

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Be willing to work in a high paced environment
  • Have experience operating four-wheel drive and construction type machinery, or be willing to learn
  • Be comfortable traveling, up to 10 days, at a time.
  • Be prepared and comfortable with working outside in challenging conditions
  • Be physically capable of working long days, 10+ hours consecutively
  • Be willing to learn the proper procedures set in place, in regard to Kids course build, obstacle construction, safety, while maintaining an analytical and problem-solving mindset to improve these procedures
  • Must be able to oversee volunteers with an efficient approach to accomplishing mission and critical tasks
  • Be capable of working closely with children
  • Be capable of navigating and utilizing email, Microsoft Office programs, Google Drive and related programs.
