What are Remote BMC Engineers?

Remote BMC Engineers are IT professionals who specialize in managing, configuring, and troubleshooting Baseboard Management Controllers (BMCs) on servers and other hardware, often working from remote locations. BMCs are embedded microcontrollers that enable administrators to monitor system health, perform remote diagnostics, and manage hardware independently of the host system's operating state. These engineers play a critical role in maintaining server reliability, supporting firmware updates, and assisting with out-of-band management tasks for organizations with large-scale or distributed IT infrastructures.

Our industry-leading portfolio unlocks human and machine potential to drive business growth, innovation, and sustainable success. BMC does this in a simple and optimized way by connecting people, systems, and data that power the world's largest organizations so they can seize a competitive advantage.
BMC's dynamic corporate teams are strategic and trusted advisors to the global organization supporting, enhancing, and driving BMC's vision, culture, growth, and so much more. Each individual within the corporate teams is a valued partner to the overarching success of BMC's employees and customers. If you are looking for a company that gives you the freedom to expand your role, focuses highly on your professional development through continuous enablement, gives you an environment where you would feel happy to come to work, then BMC is the place to be.
We're looking for a Legal Counsel to join our team, with a focus on Product & Commercialization!
In this role, you will provide legal guidance for our product management and engineering teams, throughout the full product lifecycle - from early stages of development, to launch and commercialization. You will also collaborate closely with Business, Marketing, and Legal teams to advise on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters.
If you're looking for a place that welcomes your ideas on how to do things differently and better. If you love working with highly collaborative teams in an exciting, fast-paced environment - BMC is the place for you!
What You'll Do:
  • Provide proactive, business-focused legal advice to internal clients, focusing on new software products and features - from concept through launch
  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including SaaS, license, OEM, professional services, data privacy, reseller, distributor, confidentiality, and other agreements.
  • Deliver practical and creative solutions under tight timelines, balancing legal risk with business needs, and ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, data security, and privacy requirements
  • Partner closely with product management, engineering, and business teams to build deep understanding of our products, technologies, and cloud services
  • Support the organization through commercial cycles, including quarter-end and year-end priorities

Requirements:
  • Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent)
  • Active license to practice law in good standing in at least one US / Canadian jurisdiction
  • 5+ years of experience as a Legal Counsel or a similar in-house role
  • Experience in a software / tech company, with a focus on commercial agreements, SaaS, and data privacy
  • Experience representing seller-side in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, as opposed to primarily buyer-side experience
  • US / Canadian Data Privacy certification (CIPP/US or CIPP/C)
  • Solid understanding of the software sales cycle, including supporting commercial processes and deadlines.
  • Customer-focused mindset, with the ability to build strong relationships across cross-functional teams and global regions/time zones
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while remaining independent, flexible, and responsive to stakeholders

Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with US Anti-trust law.
  • Advanced Law Degree (LL.M.)
