Position Overview: The Future Plans/GRIT Career Coach is a self-motivated person who is a critical thinker, empathetic, and committed to supporting individuals from all backgrounds as they seek the self-knowledge that will inform their educational and career choices. Career Coaches have the ability to build trusting relationships by providing the right balance of challenge and support to enable participants to explore their interests, aptitudes, and values in a way that is personally empowering.
Those who are most successful as a Future plans/GRIT Career Coach are individuals who:
  • Have life/career experiences that can help others discover how their interests, abilities (aptitudes) and work interests align with career opportunities they may not have considered.
  • Can help guide clients in developing a plan to reach their personal career goals.
  • Are willing to take time to reflect on their own experiences and use those experiences when coaching others.
  • Are engaging and can gently guide clients through a discovery process that investigates all possibilities before making their own informed decisions.
Requirements:
All work is remote work. Must have a quiet space, reliable high-speed internet access, and a computer with audio and video capabilities to be considered. Background check required.
Must have availability between the hours of 8am – 3pm Monday through Friday. Workload may be quite busy for a few months in the fall as schools assess and coach students and then slower during the next school semester.
PROCESS FOR BECOMING A CAREER COACH
People interested in becoming a Career Coach must first apply, complete the Future Plans Career Assessment, complete their virtual career coaching session, and then complete the career coach training program. Training and coach certification hours are unpaid. During the training you will:
  • Complete the online career coach training modules (on demand) approximately 8 hours
  • Practice your skills in a virtual career coach certification session. Approximately 2-3 hours
