Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments of patients and families to uncover emotional, social, and environmental strengths and challenges influenced by their health status.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches that include crisis intervention, brief and long-term individual and family therapies.
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare providers, facilitating communication and coordination of care to ensure a seamless treatment experience for patients and families.
  • Play a pivotal role in discharge planning, engaging with patients and their families to establish comprehensive post-discharge support systems, liaising with insurers, medical professionals, and community resources.
  • Provide education and counseling addressing adaptation techniques for patients and families in response to illness, helping them navigate changes gracefully.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to manage after-hours interventions and provide timely support.
  • Present as an expert at educational conferences, sharing your knowledge in psychosocial oncology practice and contributing to the advancement of the field.
  • Contribute to community services by offering education, consultation, and research initiatives aimed at enhancing resources for cancer survivors and their families.
  • Support the continued education and professional growth of peers through supervision and mentorship of clinical social workers and students.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on individuals facing significant life challenges related to medical diagnoses, including oncology patients dealing with the psychological impacts of their condition. You will address emotional distress, depression, and anxiety, providing short-term counseling tailored to their unique experiences and needs. You will support patients of diverse backgrounds, ensuring culturally competent care is delivered effectively.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Oregon.
  • Strong working knowledge of psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and therapeutic modalities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine passion for helping others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
