A Brief Overview
Responsible for performance of assigned financial reporting, general accounting, and financial audits for Avera and its Entities. The Accountant works closely with their assigned Finance leadership and other Accountants as necessary to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely reporting of financial information.
What you will do

  • Performs assigned functions necessary to complete the monthly close and reporting process for designated Avera divisions and reviews financial statements to identify potential errors or inconsistencies. Works with appropriate Operational Finance team(s) and their analysts in the resolution of issues before financial statements are finalized. As an Accountant II responsibility over complex operating units and month end functions will be expected.
  • Stays current on financial reporting and accounting regulations related to assigned functions.
  • Completes assigned monthly and year-end accounting procedures and reporting including internal financial reporting, external audit preparation, tax return preparation, and any other external and internal reporting. As an Accountant II responsibility for complex procedures, schedules, and tax related functions will be expected.
  • Performs job responsibilities, objectives and standards of performance for financial reporting, accounting, audit, and tax preparation within established policies, processes, and procedures established by Leadership to ensure compliance.
  • Completes assigned routine reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Participates and serves on interdepartmental committees and teams as requested by leadership.
  • Act as a Super User for all assigned financial modules/products in order to direct and/or assist financial reporting team with procedural/process changes within divisions.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's or 7 years of relevant experience
