What is a remote AT&T software engineer?

A Remote AT&T Software Engineer is a technology professional who works for AT&T, one of the largest telecommunications companies, but performs their duties from a location outside of a traditional office setting. Their main responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software systems that support AT&T’s products and services. These engineers often collaborate with cross-functional teams using digital communication tools and must ensure that their work aligns with AT&T’s technical standards and business goals. Remote positions offer flexibility but require strong self-motivation, effective communication skills, and the ability to troubleshoot issues independently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote AT&T software engineer?

To excel as a Remote AT&T Software Engineer, you need a strong background in computer science principles, software development, and experience with relevant programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. Familiarity with cloud platforms, version control systems like Git, and Agile methodologies, as well as certifications in software engineering or cloud technologies, are often required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial for collaborating across remote teams. These skills ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions while maintaining productivity and alignment within distributed work environments.

How does working remotely as an AT&T software engineer affect collaboration with team members and project stakeholders?

As a remote AT&T Software Engineer, you'll rely heavily on digital communication tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders. Regular virtual stand-ups, code reviews, and sprint planning sessions help maintain alignment and ensure smooth project progress. While remote work offers flexibility, it requires proactive communication and strong self-management skills to stay connected and productive within the team. You'll also have opportunities to participate in virtual workshops and team-building activities that foster a sense of community despite the physical distance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create reinforcement learning environments for software engineering tasks.
  • Design tasks involving bug fixing, feature development, refactoring, and performance optimization.
  • Build deterministic verification systems and golden reference solutions.
  • Evaluate AI agents' ability to reason through complex codebases and use MCP tools effectively.
  • Develop realistic, reproducible software engineering scenarios.
  • Ensure tasks accurately measure coding ability, problem-solving, and tool usage.
  • Document solutions and provide clear technical feedback.
Required Skills
  • Strong proficiency in Python 3, Java, Rust, C++, or TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Experience with bug fixing and debugging complex software issues.
