AS400 Administrator
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
Visa: USC or GC only
Position Overview
seeking an experienced AS400 Administrator to provide full end-to-end administration, system maintenance, and operational support for the IBM iSeries/AS400 environment. This role requires strong expertise in AS400 system configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, security administration, and backup/restore processes.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, ensure overall system stability, and support mission-critical operations in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day administration of AS400/iSeries systems
  • Manage system configuration, installation, upgrades, and patching
  • Monitor system performance and perform tuning to ensure optimal efficiency
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-level issues
  • Support job scheduling, batch processing, and system automation
  • Manage user access, security setup, roles, and permissions
  • Perform backups, restores, disaster recovery testing, and data replication
  • Coordinate with internal teams for system enhancements and operational support
  • Maintain system documentation, logs, and audit compliance
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support as required
  • Ensure high availability and reliability across AS400 systems
Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on AS400/iSeries Administration experience
  • Strong expertise with system operations, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with AS400 security, user administration, and audit controls
  • Proficiency in backup/restore processes and disaster recovery planning
  • Knowledge of job scheduling tools (Robot Scheduler, Control-M, or similar)
  • Familiarity with CL programming and command-line operations
  • Ability to manage upgrades, patches, and system migrations
  • Excellent communication and remote collaboration skills
  • Ability to start immediately
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting AS400 in enterprise environments
  • Knowledge of Power Systems hardware
  • Understanding of DB2 on AS400
