Job description

Head of Product Marketing Remote The Company

Akuity is a Sunnyvale, CA-based business founded to provide software delivery for enterprises. With generative AI accelerating code creation, the new bottleneck is application delivery. Akuity's customer growth is driven by enterprise companies that need governance and compliance at scale, and by AI-native companies, including AI infrastructure and cloud companies, that rely on scalability, security, and speed to compete in the market.

Akuity was founded by the original creators of the Argo and Kargo projects. With 30K+ GitHub stars, Argo is one of the most widely adopted projects in the Kubernetes ecosystem: more than 70% of organizations running Kubernetes have adopted Argo CD. Kargo, a more recent project, has helped to define the Continuous Promotion category and has emerged as a category leader.

The Opportunity

Akuity is looking for a Head of Product Marketing to build and lead the product marketing function from the ground up. This is a foundational hire: the person in this role will lead the product and company narrative, set the strategic direction for how Akuity positions itself against category competitors, and build the messaging frameworks, launch processes, and enablement systems that scale with the company.

The role reports into the VP of Marketing, partners directly with the CEO and product leadership on positioning and launch strategy, and works closely with Sales and Community/Dev Relations to translate technical differentiation into buyer-ready value propositions.

Akuity's products, users, and buyers are a deeply technical audience. This role requires genuine curiosity about the underlying technology (GitOps, Kubernetes, progressive delivery) and the credibility to engage directly with engineers, platform teams, and technical buyers, not just marketing stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities
  • Own and evolve Akuity's top-level messaging and positioning across the product portfolio, ensuring a consistent, differentiated narrative across every customer touchpoint.
  • Set the strategy for major product launches, including go-to-market timing, narrative arc, and cross-functional coordination across Product, Sales, and Community/Dev Relations.
  • Build and scale the core content and enablement infrastructure for GTM: messaging frameworks, competitive battlecards, sales playbooks, presentations, case studies, and proof points.
  • Partner directly with the CEO and product leadership to shape how the company tells its story to press, analysts, investors, and the broader market.
  • Establish and run a competitive intelligence practice, tracking category shifts and ensuring Akuity's positioning stays ahead of competitors rather than reactive to them.
  • Define what "customer proof" looks like at Akuity and build the systems (case studies, reference programs, proof points) to capture and deploy it credibly across marketing and sales content.
  • Represent product marketing in company-wide strategic planning, providing the voice of the market and the buyer in roadmap and business decisions.
  • Hire, develop, and eventually manage a small product marketing team as the function scales.
  • Establish the metrics and reporting cadence that demonstrate product marketing's impact on pipeline, win rates, and sales velocity.
Basic Qualifications
  • 7+ years of product marketing experience, including at least 2+ years in a technical product company at Series A/B stage or comparable growth stage.
  • Track record of building a product marketing function or a major GTM motion (launch process, competitive program, sales enablement system) from scratch.
  • Experience using data and metrics to demonstrate marketing's impact on pipeline and revenue outcomes.
  • Experience building, executing, and scaling marketing campaigns from concept through measurable results.
  • Comfortable with core marketing tools (HubSpot, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager) and able to set reporting standards for a growing team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with executive leadership (CEO, VP Product, VP Sales) on strategic narrative and positioning decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in open-source-adjacent, developer tools, or infrastructure/Kubernetes-ecosystem companies.
  • Experience managing and scaling relationships with external content or creative agencies.
  • Experience building and managing a product marketing team, including hiring and developing early-career PMMs.
  • Experience presenting to and influencing investor audiences.
Why Akuity?

We are positioned to win in today's market. Software delivery is more important today than ever. With generative AI accelerating code creation, the new bottleneck is application delivery.

The Akuity culture values humility, authenticity, and diversity. We want to work with people of different backgrounds and experiences and we trust our team members to take responsibility, share ownership, and collaborate as teammates. We seek collaborative, inquisitive, and dedicated individuals to join our team.
