What is a Remote Ansys Simulation job?

A Remote Ansys Simulation job involves using Ansys software to perform engineering simulations such as structural, thermal, fluid dynamics, or electromagnetic analyses from a remote location. Professionals in this role set up, run, and interpret simulation models to help design and optimize products or processes for clients or employers. The remote aspect allows for flexibility in work location, relying on cloud computing or remote desktop solutions to access high-performance computing resources. This job typically requires a background in engineering, familiarity with Ansys tools, and strong analytical skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Ansys Simulation Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Ansys Simulation Engineer, you need a strong background in engineering principles, finite element analysis (FEA), and proficiency in simulation modeling, typically supported by a relevant degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering. Expertise in using Ansys software suites, familiarity with CAD tools, and sometimes professional certifications like Ansys Certified Expert are highly valued. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills help you effectively collaborate and deliver results in a remote work environment. These skills and tools are essential for producing accurate simulations, ensuring project efficiency, and maintaining effective remote teamwork.

What are some common challenges faced when working remotely as an Ansys Simulation Engineer, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Ansys Simulation Engineers frequently encounter challenges related to collaboration, communication, and access to high-performance computing resources. Since simulation projects often require close coordination with product design, testing, and manufacturing teams, it’s important to proactively schedule regular video meetings and use collaborative platforms to stay aligned. Additionally, ensuring a stable internet connection and secure remote access to company servers or cloud-based simulation environments can help overcome technical barriers. Building strong virtual relationships with colleagues and seeking out mentorship or training opportunities online can further enhance both workflow efficiency and professional growth.

Job Description and Requirements
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
An experienced thermal-fluid engineer with a strong background in heat transfer engineering simulations. You bring subject matter expertise in thermal management, propulsion, or climate control, along with a solid understanding of system-level thermal analysis. You are passionate about solving complex problems and enabling customer success through technical excellence. You can connect the right methods and assumptions to the questions our fluids team needs to answer. You enjoy collaborating closely with customers to understand their workflows, then translating requirements into clear simulation approaches and recommendations.
Learning new tools and methods energizes you. You stay current because the field moves and because you like being the person who knows how to apply the latest capabilities to real problems. At Synopsys, you will work with customers solving hard thermal and fluids challenges across aerospace, automotive, and industrial sectors, and what you help them figure out will directly shape how their products perform.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Deploy the full Ansys simulation toolset, including AI-based platforms, to help customers solve thermal management, propulsion, and climate control problems using your own engineering judgment and simulation expertise
  • Work directly with customers to ensure high satisfaction and successful adoption of Ansys simulation software, troubleshooting workflows and guiding best practices
  • Build deep subject matter expertise in Ansys thermal and fluids products, becoming the go-to resource for both customers and internal teams
  • Evaluate AI-based support platform responses for technical accuracy and relevance, helping improve how automated tools assist engineers
  • File defect reports, verify fixes, and participate in field testing of new releases to ensure features and workflows meet real customer requirements
  • Support Sales and Marketing teams with technical expertise during customer engagements, demos, and strategic initiatives as needed
  • Contribute to product improvement by submitting feature requests and workflow recommendations based on customer feedback and your own technical insight
  • Document and share knowledge to improve team effectiveness, support consistency, and customer outcomes.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Enable faster, more accurate thermal and fluids simulations for customers designing next-generation aerospace, automotive, and industrial systems
  • Reduce time-to-resolution for complex customer issues, directly improving their product development timelines and confidence in simulation results
  • Shape the evolution of Ansys simulation tools by providing engineering-grounded feedback that influences product roadmaps and feature prioritization
  • Expand customer adoption and proficiency with Ansys platforms, turning occasional users into power users who rely on simulation throughout their design process
  • Strengthen the bridge between customer needs and internal development teams, ensuring product capabilities align with real-world engineering challenges
  • Help define how AI-based support technologies can augment engineering expertise, making simulation more accessible without sacrificing rigor
  • Build a knowledge base and best practices that elevate the entire support organization's ability to solve thermal and fluids problems at scale

What You'll Need
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related Engineering Physics field with 5+ years of experience in engineering software environments, or MS with 2+ years, or PhD
  • Deep understanding of system-level thermal analysis with hands-on expertise in thermal management, propulsion, or climate control systems using commercial thermal or flow network modeling software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with customers and cross-functional internal teams
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and maintain a sense of urgency
  • 2+ years of experience using Thermal Desktop, RadCAD, FloCAD, OpenTD API, or TD Direct is highly desirable; experience with NX-Thermal, Maya HTT TMG, ESATAN, SINDA, TSS, Flowmaster, GT-Suite, Amesim, Thermica, or Easy5 will also be considered

Who You Are
  • You stay organized across multiple customer cases without losing track of details or letting anything slip through the cracks, even when priorities shift

  • You can translate complex thermal physics into language that makes sense to a project manager or sales engineer
  • You are self-motivated and know when to pull in help or escalate an issue
  • You enjoy learning new simulation methods and tools, and you are the kind of person who experiments with a new feature before the documentation is even finished
  • You bring professionalism and business sense to customer interactions, understanding that technical excellence matters but so does responsiveness, follow-through, and making customers feel heard

The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will join the Ansys Customer Excellence Global Technical Support team, a diverse group of talented engineers and technical specialists dedicated to empowering customers and advancing simulation-driven innovation. The team emphasizes a collaborative culture, sharing expertise, continuously learning and delivering exceptional service across a wide range of industries, with a special focus on fluids and aerospace systems.
