What You'll Do

As a Claim Analyst 3 on our individual disability team, your day will be anything but routine. This is a small team with a collaborative environment, every single day offers new challenges and the ability to use your excellent analytical, communication and customer service skills to assist with our client’s disability claims - all during a time in which they may be facing major changes in life.

Here are few examples of the kinds of things you'll do:

  • Review, analyze, manage, and make appropriate and accurate decisions on Life and/or Disability claims in accordance to policy and state/federal law and regulations. Mentor, counsel, and provide feedback and assistance to others.
  • Analyze, investigate, and adjudicate disability claims after determining information needed and acquiring all appropriate information. Analyze medical, vocational, and financial information to make effective and timely claim decisions. This includes having an in-depth knowledge of claim procedures, product design, contract provisions, state laws and recognition of rehabilitation and Social Security potential. Maintain fully detailed claim file providing a clear and understandable audit trail required for compliance and legal purposes. Identify and refer claims to other resources (senior claims personnel, Medical, Law, etc) with appropriate action plan and questions.
  • Connect with clients regarding medical conditions, restrictions & limitations, disability policy provisions, claim decisions, and all other aspects of the claim process.
  • Optimally manage caseload as well as assist others in coordinating, setting priorities, providing feedback and supervising their caseload to ensure company and state/federal requirements are met.
  • Provide technical insight and be a resource to internal staff and others outside the claim function for claim contract issues. Counsel Team members, providing guidance in claims administration. Serve as consultant to underwriters, customer service, and producers regarding the administration of policy provisions.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as the need arises.

Who You Are
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 6+ years work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree with legal and or medical terminology, or prior Life and Disability claim experience preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and pay strict attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Good analytical, interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (must be able to connect with individuals experiencing illnesses, financial losses, or deaths of loved ones as well as legal and/or medical professionals).

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$22.93 - $40.96 / hour

The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across different geographies. 

  • Wichita, KS: $22.93 - $30.72 / hour
  • Des Moines, IA: $24.21 - $32.43 / hour
  • Charlotte, NC: $25.48 - $34.13 / hour
  • Chicago/Minneapolis: $28.03 - $37.55 / hour
  • Los Angeles/New York City: $30.58 - $40.96 / hour

Time Off Program
Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements.
