Principal Financial Group is looking for a passionate Marketing Performance & Data Analyst (Marketing Operations Strategist) to join our dynamic Marketing Operations team.

This role bridges business strategy, data architecture, and operational execution to ensure high-quality, secure, and accessible data that supports decision-making across the organization.

The Marketing Performance & Data Analyst defines and enforces data standards, leads infrastructure evolution, and enables scalable analytics capabilities that improve marketing performance, customer experience, and organizational efficiency.

What You'll Do

Performance Insights & Analysis

  • Analyze multi-channel digital traffic, user behavior, and campaign performance to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities that improve engagement and outcomes.
  • Provide actionable, data-driven recommendations to optimize digital strategies across channels, including support for attribution modeling and experimental design.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and UX teams to define tracking requirements, measurement strategies, and testing frameworks.
  • Review and validate campaign dashboards, visualizations, and presentations to ensure accuracy and strategic relevance.

Data Strategy, Integration & Governance

  • Drive a connected campaign data strategy that supports omnichannel measurability across an evolving digital marketing ecosystem.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise data governance standards for campaign data, including quality, integrity, consistency, and archiving practices.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all campaigns and reporting systems.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate complex campaign data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain data management documentation, including system processes, workflows, and operating procedures.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, data analytics, computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in measuring marketing campaigns with a proven track record of success in managing
  • Experience in data mobility, identity resolution, and campaign data ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, structure, and derive insights from large, complex datasets.
  • Strong understanding of marketing data, customer data platforms (CDPs), and marketing technology (MarTech) integrations.
  • Detail-oriented, analytically minded, and able to communicate effectively to stakeholders across greatly varied degrees of technical range.
  • Deep knowledge of data governance, security protocols, and data privacy considerations.
  • Experience developing and operationalizing data management frameworks, standards, and best practices.

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

  • Des Moines, IA / Tampa, FL: $89,300 - $105,000 / year
  • Charlotte, NC / Dallas, TX: $94,000 - $110,000 / year
  • Chicago, IL / Denver, CO / Minneapolis, MN: $103,400 - $121,000/ year
  • Los Angeles, CA / New York City, NY: $112,800 - $132,000 / year

Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role will be based in our Des Moines IA office and benefit from a hybrid work arrangment, blending at least three in-office days in a typical workweek. However, we are open to current Principal employees that are remote.
