We appreciate your interest in Lucidworks!

About the role

As a Senior IT Systems Engineer, you own IT systems engineering for corporate infrastructure, designing, implementing, and operating reliable, secure systems that support Lucidworks operations and meet enterprise IT standards. You partner with IT leadership, security, and business stakeholders to scope, estimate, and deliver infrastructure projects.

This is a fully remote individual contributor role within the Technology organization, working with a moderate level of autonomy on defined responsibilities with meaningful cross-functional touchpoints.

\\n

What you\'ll do
  • Own IT systems engineering for corporate infrastructure, designing, implementing, and operating reliable, secure systems that support Lucidworks operations and meet enterprise IT standards.

  • Design and improve Lucidworks IT infrastructure, including identity management, endpoint management, network architecture, and SaaS integration, with a focus on scalability, security, and operational efficiency.

  • Set a high bar for system reliability and configuration quality through rigorous documentation, peer review of infrastructure changes, and active reduction of technical debt in owned systems. Raise design and security issues proactively.

  • Own the operational health of systems in your domain, contributing to SLA/uptime targets, maintaining monitoring and alerting, participating in incident response, and driving post-incident improvements that prevent recurrence.

  • Parter with IT leadership, security, and business stakeholders to plan and deliver infrastructure projects, communicating technical restraints, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Apply Gen AI tools to accelerate systems administration, scripting, and documentation work, with the judgment to critically evaluate AI-generated output and to keep sensitive credentials and infrastructure details out of AI tools.

  • Provide guidance and knowledge-sharing to other IT staff and act as an escalation point for complex systems issues. Contribute to a culture of documentation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

What we\'re looking for

Must-haves

  • Experience working in a startup or similarly sized organization (approximately 100 to 500 employees), supporting corporate IT infrastructure with a hands-on, generalist approach.
  • Ability to own deployment, maintenance, integration, and troubleshooting of all corporate systems including hardware, software, and networking; develops and designs network architecture and computer systems infrastructure.

  • Deep hands-on experience administering Okta (including lifecycle management and SAML/SCIM integrations), and Google Workspace.

  • Ability to ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures; contributes to the organization\'s security posture through responsible administration, access management, and secure system configuration.

  • Proficiency in applying knowledge of IT security policies and compliance requirements across corporate systems; maintains adherence through documented processes, system configuration, and access controls.

  • Depth in experience with virtualization, cloud computing, and containerization technologies; administers enterprise systems across cloud and on-premise environments; manages Linux and Windows server infrastructure.

  • Skill in collaborating with management and internal partners to identify and implement sustainable IT solutions that meet business needs; provides technical support and guidance across the organization.

  • Skill in translating complex systems scripting, automation, and documentation requirements into precise AI prompts to accelerate IT engineering workflows, with sound judgment about what system credentials and sensitive infrastructure details may not enter any AI tool.

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with SaaS security best practices, SSO enforcement, MFA, and privileged access management.

  • Experience with MDM policy design and endpoint compliance enforcement in a remote-first workforce.

What success looks like
  • Delivers independently on defined responsibilities with consistent quality, meeting or exceeding timeline expectations without close oversight.

  • Identifies and addresses gaps within their scope before they become problems, not just completing work, but improving it.

  • Is a reliable cross-functional collaborator: brings the right context to stakeholders, follows through on commitments, and communicates blockers clearly and early.

  • Applies Gen AI tools fluently to accelerate work and improve quality, and holds AI-generated output to the same critical standard as their own.

  • Leaves the role better than they found it: through documentation, process improvement, or knowledge-sharing that raises the quality floor for the team.
