What is a Remote Aerospace Source Inspector?

A Remote Aerospace Source Inspector is a quality assurance professional who inspects aerospace components, assemblies, or products at the supplier’s location, but performs much of their work remotely using digital tools and reporting systems. Their main responsibility is to ensure that the parts and materials meet strict industry and customer standards before they are shipped to manufacturers. Remote inspectors review documentation, conduct virtual inspections, and collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues, helping to maintain safety and compliance in the aerospace supply chain.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Aerospace Source Inspector, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Aerospace Source Inspector, you need a solid understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, quality assurance principles, and industry standards such as AS9100, often backed by relevant certifications or technical degrees. Proficiency with inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMMs), digital reporting systems, and supply chain management platforms is typically required. Strong attention to detail, integrity, and clear communication skills distinguish top performers in this field. These skills and qualities are essential to ensure compliance, maintain safety, and uphold quality in aerospace components, especially when working independently at supplier sites.

What are some typical challenges faced by Remote Aerospace Source Inspectors, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Aerospace Source Inspectors often encounter challenges such as coordinating with manufacturing teams across different time zones, ensuring compliance with strict aerospace standards, and adapting to varying quality control processes at supplier sites. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Establishing clear lines of communication with suppliers and leveraging digital inspection tools can help overcome these challenges and maintain consistent quality standards.

Job description

Independent Executive Search Consultant — Engineering Vertical (1099) — Remote

Augmentis | Boutique Executive Search & Talent Augmentation
Houston, TX (Remote — Nationwide)

About Augmentis

Augmentis is the executive search and talent augmentation arm of The Work In Me, LLC, a Houston-based firm with 18+ years in the recruiting industry. We specialize in placing Accounting, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering professionals — primarily serving energy, manufacturing, aerospace & defense, and PE-backed companies across the United States.

We're not a staffing mill. We're a boutique firm built on consultative client relationships, strategic search methodology, and a commitment to quality over volume. Our partners get the infrastructure and brand support of an established firm with the autonomy and earning potential of running their own desk.

The Opportunity

Our accounting, finance, and procurement verticals are active and producing. Now we're building out our engineering practice — and we're looking for the right Independent Executive Search Consultant (1099) to own it.

This isn't just a desk. It's a vertical. You'll step into an established firm with signed MSAs, active client relationships, and hiring authorities across energy, manufacturing, and aerospace & defense who need engineering talent now. The infrastructure is built. The client base is active. What's missing is the person who can run with it.

This is a full-desk role. You'll develop client relationships, manage job orders, source and screen engineering candidates, coordinate interviews, negotiate offers, and manage placements — all under the Augmentis brand with real support behind you.

Whether you're an experienced engineering recruiter ready to go independent, a technical professional who's transitioned into recruiting, or an agency recruiter with engineering placement experience looking for uncapped earning potential — we want to talk to you.

What You'll Do
  • Own and scale the engineering vertical across Augmentis' client base, leveraging existing MSAs and client relationships from day one
  • Develop new client relationships and expand engineering hiring authority contacts within current accounts
  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle: job order intake, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offer negotiation, and placement management
  • Execute both permanent/direct-hire searches and temporary/contract placements for engineering roles
  • Source, screen, and qualify engineering candidates with technical depth and confidence
  • Maintain real-time activity logs, candidate tracking, and deal progress in our CRM/ATS
  • Collaborate with Augmentis leadership and sourcing partners on active searches
  • Represent the Augmentis brand with professionalism and consultative expertise

Engineering Disciplines

The engineering roles you'll recruit across include, but are not limited to:

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and Industrial Engineering
  • Manufacturing and Process Engineering
  • Machine Learning and Software Engineering
  • Project and Construction Engineering
  • Quality, Reliability, and Safety Engineering
  • Supply Chain and Operations Engineering

Industries served include energy (oil & gas, renewables), manufacturing, aerospace & defense, and PE-backed portfolio companies.

Compensation Structure

This is a commission-based independent contractor (1099) partnership with one of the most competitive structures in boutique search:

Permanent Placements:

  • 50% commission on your first three successful placements — designed to get you earning quickly
  • Tiered commission accelerators after your third placement, scaling up to 70% based on annual production
  • Full-desk ownership (you develop the client AND source the candidate) = 100% production credit before commission calculation

Temporary / Contract Placements:

  • $400 placement commission per contractor placed on assignment
  • $15/week per active contractor for the duration of each assignment
  • Monthly calculation, paid semi-monthly

Additional Details:

  • All commissions paid via ACH direct deposit, semi-monthly (1st and 15th)
  • Fees earned upon Augmentis' receipt of client payment
  • 12-month candidate ownership rights on candidates you source
  • 18-month client ownership rights on clients you originate
  • Sourcing partner support available — Independent Sourcing Partners handle candidate research so you can focus on client development and closing

What You Bring
  • Experience recruiting engineers in any capacity — agency, corporate, RPO, or independent search
  • OR a technical/engineering background with a transition into recruiting or talent acquisition
  • Strong understanding of engineering roles, qualifications, and technical terminology
  • Consultative, relationship-driven approach to client development and candidate management
  • Self-motivation and discipline to manage your own pipeline and production
  • Willingness to learn and follow a proven methodology (The Augmentis Method)
  • Reliable internet connection and a professional remote work setup
  • Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to quality placements over quick transactions

Bonus (not required):

  • Familiarity with the energy, manufacturing, or aerospace & defense sectors
  • An existing book of business or client relationships in engineering
  • Experience with CRM/ATS platforms
  • Professional engineering network or association memberships

Why Augmentis?
  • Vertical ownership — This isn't a desk assignment. You own the engineering practice with full support and autonomy to build it
  • Established client base — Signed MSAs and active relationships across energy, manufacturing, and aerospace & defense. The door is already open
  • Uncapped earning potential — Commission accelerators reward production, not politics
  • Full-desk ownership model — Your clients and candidates are yours, with 12-month candidate and 18-month client ownership protections
  • Sourcing partner support — A growing network of Independent Sourcing Partners to help fuel your pipeline
  • Proven methodology — The Augmentis Method provides structured training for both recruiting fundamentals and business development
  • Boutique culture — You're a partner, not a number. Direct access to the Managing Partner and firm leadership
  • Remote flexibility — Work from anywhere in the U.S.
  • Dual revenue streams — Build recurring income through contract placements alongside executive search fees
  • Growth path — For the right person, this vertical can grow into a leadership role within the firm

How to Apply

Apply directly through this posting or email your resume and a brief note about your recruiting and/or engineering background to info@augment-is.com.

We're building something different — a firm where talented recruiters build real equity in their practice with the backing of an established brand. If that resonates, let's talk.
