Remote Advanced Practice Provider information

What is a remote advanced practice provider?

A Remote Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a healthcare professional, such as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, who delivers medical care and services to patients through telehealth technology rather than in-person visits. Remote APPs assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients' health remotely, often using video calls, phone calls, or online platforms. This role allows for greater flexibility, improved access to care for patients in rural or underserved areas, and the ability to maintain work-life balance for providers. Remote APPs often work for hospitals, clinics, or telemedicine companies and must be licensed in the state(s) where their patients are located.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote advanced practice provider?

To thrive as a Remote Advanced Practice Provider, you need advanced clinical expertise, a graduate-level degree (such as NP or PA), and valid licensure. Familiarity with telemedicine platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and relevant state or national certifications is typically required. Strong communication, self-motivation, and adaptability are critical soft skills for building patient trust and efficiently managing virtual care. These abilities are essential for delivering safe, high-quality patient care and maintaining effective remote collaboration.

What are some common challenges faced by remote advanced practice providers and how can they be addressed?

Remote Advanced Practice Providers often encounter challenges related to virtual patient assessment, such as limited physical examination capabilities and establishing rapport through telehealth platforms. Effective communication skills, proficiency with telemedicine technology, and adapting clinical judgment to remote settings are essential for success. Building strong collaborative relationships with on-site healthcare teams and maintaining clear documentation can help address these challenges and ensure high-quality patient care.

Job description

Come Join Us!

Our Mobile Geriatric Psychiatry Team is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a heart for senior care and a passion for redefining how older adults experience mental health and emotional well-being.

This role blends independent clinical practice with strong team-based collaboration, supported by a care model that values compassion, connection, and clinical excellence. If you're looking to step away from the traditional clinic setting and make a meaningful impact in the lives of seniors, we look forward to connecting with you.

Let's put a heart of GOLD back in the Golden Years.

About Us

At Access Healthcare Associates as part of Brigade Health, we are redefining geriatric behavioral healthcare by bringing high-quality psychiatric services directly to seniors where they live—in private homes and senior living communities.

We partner with 380+ assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing communities nationwide, delivering relationship-based, resident-centered care that prioritizes dignity, access, and outcomes for aging populations.

As a PMHNP at Access Healthcare Associates, You'll Join a Purpose-Driven Team That:

  • Delivers continuum-based care, integrating psychiatric services with primary care and other supportive specialties.
  • Operates within a collaborative culture, where clinical leadership, operational partners, and peer providers support your long-term success.
  • Values stability, partnership, and mentorship, fostering consistency and meaningful professional growth.
  • Balances clinical excellence and efficiency with compassion, presence, and genuine human connection.
  • Supports provider autonomy through structured onboarding, clear workflows, and dedicated field-based support.

What Makes This Role Unique

Geriatric Psychiatric Focus

Develop deep expertise in geriatric psychiatry, including dementia-related behaviors, depression, anxiety, and complex neurocognitive conditions.

Mobile, Relationship-Based Care

Deliver personalized psychiatric care in home and senior living settings, enabling stronger patient relationships and more informed clinical decision-making.

Autonomy with Support

Practice independently while being fully supported by a dedicated medical assistant and medical scribe, allowing you to spend your time where it matters most—patient care.

Quality and Growth Focused

Quality outcomes, continuity, and provider satisfaction are core to our model. Growth is supported without sacrificing care standards.

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for geriatric patients in home and facility-based settings.
  • Diagnosing and managing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, dementia-related behavioral symptoms, and other psychiatric conditions.
  • Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications with careful consideration of comorbidities and geriatric physiology.
  • Providing crisis intervention, behavioral guidance, and family education when clinically indicated.
  • Collaborating with primary care providers, therapists, and facility care teams to ensure coordinated, whole-person care.
  • Building trusted relationships with patients, caregivers, families, and community partners.
  • Maintaining consistent, accurate clinical documentation and follow-through.

Competitive Compensation

  • Guaranteed Base Salary + Productivity
  • Total annual compensation range: $150,000–$200,000+, based on experience, caseload, and availability.
  • A balanced model that provides income stability while rewarding productivity and clinical impact.

Comprehensive Benefits (Full-Time)

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Structured onboarding and ongoing clinical leadership support

What You'll Bring

  • Active, unencumbered PMHNP license in the state you will be practicing
  • Experience in geriatric psychiatry, long-term care, or mobile healthcare preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and comfort working independently with remote support.
  • A compassionate, patient-centered approach with respect for seniors and their families.
