Hastings Insurance is seeking an Insurance Product Manager to help shape and manage our Agribusiness or Commercial Lines insurance products. Working closely with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, and other business partners, you'll guide product strategy, pricing, form development, regulatory filings, and product enhancements that support profitability, compliance, and long-term growth.

This role offers the opportunity to influence products from concept through implementation while serving as a key contributor to business performance. Whether your background is in product development, underwriting, pricing, or another insurance discipline, you'll play an important role in helping Hastings deliver competitive, customer-focused insurance solutions across our markets.

Location & Schedule

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role may be performed onsite in Hastings, Michigan, in a hybrid arrangement, or fully remote. Candidates must reside in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, or Wisconsin.

What You’ll Do:
  • Develop and execute product strategies for assigned Agribusiness or Commercial Lines insurance products.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product performance, profitability, competitiveness, and customer value.
  • Design and manage product changes from concept through implementation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Analyze product performance, market trends, competitor offerings, and business results to recommend actionable improvements.
  • Partner with Actuarial to develop pricing strategies and evaluate business impacts.
  • Develop formal product proposals including rate indications, coverage comparisons, and rating variable analysis.
  • Ensure timely regulatory compliance through form development, rate filings, rule filings, and state filings.
  • Prepare and manage rate, rule, and form filings using SERFF.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries and objections in partnership with Actuarial and Legal.
  • Coordinate implementation of product revisions across Underwriting, Claims, IT, and other business areas.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to gain alignment and approval on product changes and initiatives.
  • Maintain underwriting guidelines, eligibility rules, product documentation, and related materials.
  • Define business and system requirements associated with product changes and enhancements.
  • Validate rates, algorithms, forms, and system updates through testing and review.
  • Oversee communication and training related to product updates for internal and external audiences.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert supporting Underwriting, Claims, Marketing, and other departments.
  • Conduct periodic audits and maintain form indexes for assigned product lines.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and continuous improvement efforts.
    What You’ll Bring:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Five or more years of Property and Casualty insurance experience.
    • Direct experience supporting Commercial Lines, Agribusiness, Farm Lines, or related insurance products.
    • Experience in product development, product management, underwriting, pricing, actuarial support, marketing, or a related insurance discipline.
    • Strong understanding of insurance product development, pricing structures, coverage forms, and regulatory requirements.
    • Experience with rate development, product lifecycle management, and state filing processes.
    • Knowledge of SERFF and insurance regulatory filing requirements preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make sound business recommendations.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, IT, and other business functions.
    • CPCU, AU, actuarial coursework, or other insurance designations preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
