Job description

Zurich North America is seeking an Actuary position to join the Pricing Actuarial Team in support of actuarial and underwriting leaders as well as be responsible for the pricing of Direct Markets accounts. The Senior Actuarial Analyst and team will partner with Direct Markets Underwriting teams, Line of Business Pricing, Reserving, and Data Analytics, among others, to ensure optimal outcomes for the portfolios. This will include individual account pricing and portfolio performance analysis. 

We are open to hiring remote talent, however, hybrid with a presence in the Schaumburg North American Headquarters is preferred.

Additional Actuary responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analyses related to pricing
  • Develop and deliver actionable insights and associated actions for improvement for individual captives and Direct Market accounts
  • Support Market Facing Underwriters on pricing decisions and development of effective premium/rating structure and strategies in support of business objectives
  • Perform analysis related to understanding profit drivers on portfolio and book segments and communicate insights as needed
  • Analysis and assessment of underwriting and reserving methodology and approaches
  • Analysis related to understanding profit drivers on portfolio segments and communicate insights as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
    OR
  • Bachelors Degree
    AND
  • 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification
    OR
  • 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience
  • History of successful, solution-oriented collaboration across actuarial and multi-functional teams
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at various levels of the organization
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
  • Experience with SQL, R, and VBA
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority based on data analyses and reviews
  • Knowledge of Actuarial Technique and Standards.

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background matters to us. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The proposed Salary range for this position is $132,500.00 - $217,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
