Job description

Hill Country Coverage is hiring experienced insurance producers to join our growing independent agency. We represent 20+ carriers including Progressive, Geico, Liberty Mutual, Wellington, Homeowners of America, Three by Berkshire, and many more, which means you can shop the market for your clients instead of being locked into one carrier. If you're tired of captive limits, dead-end commission structures, or working for an agency that doesn't invest in your success, we should talk.

Headquarters is out of Austin but we all work from different parts of Texas (Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin).

What You'll Do

  • Quote and bind personal lines (auto, home, renters) and small commercial policies
  • Receive warm transfers and quote opportunities sourced by our in-house lead team
  • Work agency-funded lead flow delivered directly to you
  • Cross-sell life insurance, home, and umbrella to build complete client households
  • Build a renewal book that compounds into passive income year over year
  • Develop your own referral network to supplement agency-provided leads
  • Hit ramp milestones and grow into a top producer at a fast-growing Texas agency

Compensation

  • 7% commission on new P&C written premium
  • 50% of agency commission on life insurance
  • 2% renewal commission on P&C beginning as policies renew with opportunities for renewal commission increases based on tenure and performance
  • Commission paid on the 15th of every month
  • Quarterly and annual performance bonuses available based on production milestones, retention, and book quality
  • Realistic year-one earnings: $40,000-$60,000+
  • Top producers and those committed to commercial development earn $100,000+ by year two
  • No initial base salary commission only


Producer-Friendly Chargeback Policy

  • P&C policies: chargeback only applies if a policy cancels within the first 3 months. After 3 months, you keep your commission regardless of subsequent cancellation
  • Life insurance: pro-rated chargeback matching the carrier's chargeback window
  • Commercial: pro-rated chargeback based on unearned premium returned


What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Active Texas P&C General Lines License (no exceptions)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of P&C insurance experience (captive or independent)
  • Proficient quoting personal lines (auto and home)
  • Self-motivated, coachable, and goal-oriented
  • Comfortable handling warm transfers and following structured sales processes
  • Financial ability to ramp on a commission-only structure
  • Reliable home internet, quiet workspace, and the discipline to manage your day independently


Preferred:

  • Licensed Agent (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with multiple carriers
  • Bilingual English/Spanish not necessary but a plus
  • Commercial lines experience a plus


The Ramp

We've documented exactly what success looks like in your first 90 days, so there's no guessing:


  • Month 1: Onboarding, systems training, begin writing in the back half of the month ($5K-$10K premium target)
  • Month 2: Independent production ($10K-$15K premium target)
  • Month 3: Scaling production ($15K-$25K premium target)
  • Month 6: Sustained $15K+/month minimum, working toward $25K+


You'll have weekly pipeline reviews with the General Manager, monthly 1-on-1s, and our leadership team is available for coaching whenever you want it. How much you tap into that support is up to you.

Flexibility is key: no set hours except we have one morning meeting each day at 9:30 AM as a check-in (typically fast, less than 5 minutes unless company news or bigger things are announced)
