Summary of the role:
The SolarCorps Service Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Fellow will work directly with the O&M Service Manager to ensure the long-term health and performance of our clients' solar systems. This position offers a comprehensive introduction to solar asset management, focusing on remote system monitoring, technical triage, and operational coordination. While the role is primarily remote and centered on managing system data and service cases from a digital workspace, there may be occasional opportunities to participate in solar installations and site visits. This position provides an excellent entry point into the operations, processes, and policies of a successful solar non-profit.
  • Provide direct client support via phone and email regarding client's questions, perform remote troubleshooting, and dispatch to service staff.
  • Work closely with GRID regional staff and partners to facilitate service case completion
  • Update service case information
  • Identify opportunities to make improvements to service processes
  • Contribute to internal documentation
  • Develop client-facing education materials

Requirements
What you need to bring to this role...
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • 11-month commitment
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle a variety of client situations with enthusiasm, care and tact
  • Ability to learn and retain new concepts and technology quickly
  • Comfortable being part of a remote team
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
  • Proficient computer skills, Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, green jobs and/or helping families and communities in need
  • When working remotely, you must have access to reliable internet connection. GRID will provide a laptop, charger, headset when remote working is required.

It would be great if you also had...
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Knowledge of electricity principles and solar technology

Benefits and how we take care of you
Standard Fellowship Compensation:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay of $21.40 per hour, plus the benefits listed above. Fellows who complete 1700 hours with GRID and complete their contracted term of service will be eligible for a $3,000 cash end of term award

Where you will sit & the places you may go...
The ideal candidate will sit within commutable distance from one of our regional offices. This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as org-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
