Job description

JOB TITLE: Digital Accessibility Associate

JOB SUMMARY:

Hours: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Location: Phoenix, AZ 85007 (remote after training - must live in Phoenix Metro area)

Parking: Free in lot

Type: Temporary

Start date: Immediately upon passing background check

Duration: 3 months

Benefits: Available after eligibility period is met

DUTIES

  • Review PDF documents for accessibility issues.
  • Remediate (fix) PDFs so they comply with WCAG 2.1 AA and PDF/UA accessibility standards.
  • Add and correct document tags that identify headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, and other content structures.
  • Ensure the reading order of documents is logical for screen readers.
  • Create and add alternative text (alt text) for images, charts, and graphics.
  • Correct structural and formatting issues that may prevent people with disabilities from accessing content.
  • Test documents with accessibility tools and assistive technology requirements in mind.
  • Use software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro and Grackle to identify and correct accessibility problems.
  • Follow established accessibility standards, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews to ensure documents meet accessibility guidelines before being published or distributed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze document layouts and determine proper reading flow.
  • Comfort learning and using specialized software.
  • Ability to follow detailed standards and procedures.
  • Patience with repetitive, detail-oriented work.
  • Successful completion of a Background check
